Funimation has recently released the trailer for the dubbed version of the “Soul Eater” series and we get a brief glimpse of what Soul Evans’ voice sounds like. I cannot wait for the release of the dubbed episodes of Soul Eater.

I can’t wait. Soul’s voice sounds like it will be OK, But what will make or break the DUB for me will be Black Star’s voice. It has to have that slight whiny quality to it. Again I can’t wait. I’ve already given up next B-day and Christmas presents so I can get this when it comes out.

Hey everyone! I’m going to answer a few questions about the voices actors.
As far as I know, Johnny isn’t voicing in this. Johnny doesn’t even work with Funimation however he COULD pull a Crispin Freeman and jump around from company to company.
Second, the only CONFIRMED cast listing is Kyle Herbert.
Our dubbing of Soul Eater is scheduled sometime next year however I am not sure on a date.
Another thing, as I have noticed, there will be a lot of new voice actors in this series as we have been auditioning new and upcoming voices lately. I hope this information helps everyone ^^

Also to Jonathon it will need to be popular so the authors of the manga and creators of the anime can get more money. Otherwise they'd stop making new episodes of both the books and tv show [I think for the TV show- I've only watched up to episode 12 but I've read all the manga available in English x3] So sure it might wreck it for you because it gets 'Popular' but it's better then having no more of even the japanese dubs and english book translations right? :C

Soul does sound a tad bit like Johny Young Bosch, but he doesn’t work with FUNImation, so the chance of him being Soul, very slim.
Quite a few people think it may be the dub actor for Neku Sakuraba from The World Ends With You, which would be ironic since Soul’s Japanese voice is Neku’s.
I heard that a newbie VA will be Soul, and Bosch is NOT a newbie. So we’ll have to wait for Soul, Maka, and ect.
Btw I dont think they’ll be airin’ Soul Eater on TV, I wish they did, but I think it’s coming out on DVD. (I know. That’s gay.) But that’s what’s probably going to happen. Cartoonnetwork doesnt have Toonami anymore, which killed my excitment for every Saturday to come, and no one would wants to stay up till like 12am to watch the show, plus they already have Inuyasha or whatever you call it on Adultswim anyway and school is startin’.(Dammit I forgot about that.) There are no other channels to put it on because its way out the lines for daytime TV like 4kids or CW11 on Saturday mornings. And since its already September, new seasons of shows and new shows are comin’ out. There’s no way they’ll be able to fit Soul Eater in, they were lucky enough to get Naruto,Inuyasha,Bleach and those other animes on TV. If they did put Soul Eater on TV it had to be Cartoonnetwork because that’s the only channel that does nothing on weekends ever since they got rid of Toonami. If we’re lucky enough, they might have to to put Toonami back on air and put Soul Eater on there so they stop those re-runs of the cartoons and make my sister stop tellin’ them to me. And believe it or not, Cartoonnetwork is startin’ to care less about what they put on TV now. If you see what they put on now, the chances of Soul Eater being on TV are very possible.

Wow! I just heard Black*Star’s voice is girl! This cant be happening! Well no man can match up to Black*Star’s voice but a girl. I guess I have to endure.
As for Black * Star’s voice…it does slightly worry me. Her voice is just SO HIGH. Some examples would be Anya from Negima!?, and Himeko from Pani Poni Dash. If you know them, you’ll know that her voice is really high, BUT, she is an excellent actress, and I think she’ll do great. Now, I think I should provide some examples you all should check out before you rate the dubbed cast:
1.) Tsubaki – Monica Rial
See Konoka Konoe from Negima!, or Asa Shigure from Shuffle!, she’s quite awesome. In Negima!, she’s also Kazumi Asakura and Satsuki Yotsuba. She has the perfect voice for Tsubaki~
2.) Black * Star – Brittney Karbowski
I can’t give too many examples, but try Lisianthus from Shuffle!, she was amazing there. When she was in Kikyou form, it sounded deeper, so I think it could work.
3.) Kid – Todd Haberkorn
Okay. Watanuki from xxxHOLiC. He has those spazzy moments that for Kid, are too perfect. I just hear it when he screams: “Himawari!!”
4.) Liz – Jamie Marchi
Haruna from Negima. She has the perfect voice~
5.) Patty – Cheramie Leigh
Setsuna from Negima, or Sae from Peach Girl. I’m a tad bit skeptical, but we’ll see.
6.) Stein – Chuck Huber
Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho, or, the perfect match, Shou Tucker from FMA.
7.) Spirit – Vic Mignogna
I wasn’t sure about this, but hear him as Tamaki from Ouran, his “daddy” speeches, too perfect.
About the release now. A friend of mine happens to have the FUNImation channel. It MAY play there, if not though, FUNImation’s YouTube channel seems to contain all of the series they’ve dubbed, in dubbed form. They also upload their official site with at least 5 dubbed episodes. It may go just to DVD, but if it does, I know someone will upload it online. I will, if no one else does.

Makoto – I would say having to pay more attention to reading what the characters are saying as opposed to actually HEARING and UNDERSTANDING it are what ruins it. You don’t get a feel for what’s going on if you have to read more than watch the anime…

I know Soul’s voice actor sounds like Ichigo (Jonny Yong Bosch) but it’s not the same person. Soul is voiced by Micah SOLUSOD who has only been in Blassreiter and The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk. so he’s fairly new to the voice acting scene.

i saw the first 3 episodes in english dub at th new york anime festtival, and it was amazing!! (and i met the voice actors for tsubaki and black star!)and omg i cant beleive luci christian (voice of hunny from ouran) is going to be medusa!!

the first episode of soul eater you sould
know what happens and what they say,
but in the dub soul eater some of the words are wrong
and if you look at the sub Soul Eater they still have the wrongwords. so this is a big mistake for “funmation”.
so it is ok to whach it, but it’s not going to be
as awsome as the original soul eater.
