meh, i like subbed better. the only voices I like are spirits and shinigamis

my?to = myuto with a long-sound accent mark over the “u” (like mee-oo-toh)
riy? = riyu, same rule applied
Seriously, you should just mute the whole thing if you don’t like hearing any of it. English dubs are made to bring the true quality of foreign media to English-speaking audiences. I’m sure that if you spoke German or Spanish, you’d watch the subbed show in either language regardless of how they sound.
I just do not know about the dub. It will take a while to get used to, that’s for sure. But in this episode it is clear that they are still getting used to the characters… hopefully this will get better over time.

Did Souleaterepisodes keep the subbed theme or does the dubbed version use it as well? It’s a good choice either way though.

Dude is right. It’s Shinigami Chop, not Reaper Chop. I was very much looking forward to hearing that in English.
But other than that small thing I’ve liked the first episode. Blackstar’s voice still makes me a little sick to my stomach.

All I can say is…I REALLY hope they improve!! Contrary to what others think, I really don’t like Shinigami-Sama’s voice! And it just sounds wrong hearing them say “Lord Death”!

the dub is pretty bad. wait til you see black*star’s voice. he sounds completely like a girl. and LORD DEATH?! wat kind of name is that!? its shinigami-sama! and its shinigami chop not reaper chop! and they are misprouncing the names! Really, Vic Mignogna for spirit????? That just dosn’t work. O_e;;; Yeah vic’s voice is ok, but not for spirit.In my opinion vic’s voice is too squeaky and raspy to be spirit :\ Shinigami sounds more like he has a sickness or something, they could have done much better. I think Maka and soul…and blair’s voices are the only good ones i have heard so far.
Aw man, i do like the sub better. But i guess this is still pretty cool.
And the preview for ep 2, come on man, they screwed with Black Stars voice. He sounds so much more awesome in the subbed version.

I like everyone’s voices’ especially soul’s. I think black star can get annoying but he’s hilarious in the same sense. Both Dub and Sub are really ideal ^^

okay, i thinks this is pretty cool, Maka’s dad is hilarious, but I can’t stand Black Star. And the reason he sounds like a girl is because the voice actor is a girl. yeah, look at the end credits, her name in Brittney Karbowski.
other than that small tidbit, i like this verison, and you just have to adapt to Black Star’s voice is all.
Oh, and Shinigami means Lord Death, or Grim Reaper, or whatever you want to call him, so get used to it
I do like the dubbed version, its not as good as the subbed but its not terrible, Spirit’s voice is funny X3
However Black Star’s voice is a little too high pitched, I think the actor’s need to get a little more comfortable with their characters before it starts to sound right, but I still like it nonetheless.

Eh. I don’t get why you guys are hating on the dubs. Shinigami’s name is Lord Death because thats what it means in ENGLISH. His voice fits prefect with his cause (for those who don’t even know the story). All the other voices fit prefect. I guess if your JAPANESE it would be off but if your AMERICAN, please don’t hate.

The reason Black Star sounds like a girl is because the voice actor IS a girl. Or at least I read that Brittney M. Karbowski is the voice actor for him, which is totally screwed. The translations from sub -> dub usually bug me simply because alot of times the depth or emotions get skewed horribly. There’s also an annoying amount of censorship on the english side, but I suppose it cant be helped.
Soul eater should just stay in japanese. The english ones just mess with everything! D:
i kinda dont like Shinigami’s voice. i really dont like the “reaper chop.” and i really REALLY dont like black star’s voice. i mean come on! in subbed, it might be a girl doing the japanese voice, but at least you might be able to believe that it’s a guy. in this one, it’s so, so bad. it makes him sound gay, which is no way even close to black star.
Black Star’s shrill voice is supposed to signify that he’s some bratty little kid who thinks he’s a whole lot bigger than he actually is. He can’t make himself SOUND big, LOOK big, or even ACT big, which only supports that point.
Thank you jesus. Someone who gets it and doesn’t just sit on their butt and complain. I admit, I hating Black Star in the beginning, but by episode 25, I hated him so much that I loved him. LMAO

Hey Admin, I was just wondering, why is this “4 shared” program not letting me watch Soul Eater episodes 1-13? Unless I’m on around 1 or 2 in the morning it always says that I have exceeded my traffic limit or something of that nature. Is there any way to avoid that so I can simply watch the first 13 eps. of Soul Eater?

That was pretty cool! The translation was good along with the voice acting. I actually like the English version better because this takes place in Death City, Nevada! But I hate how you removed the theme songs…poorly.
