The voice… I just can’t get over the voice… Either voice… it’s horrible
Yush… he’s supposed to be annoying.
Here are a couple options:
1) Learn French, forget English, then watch the English episodes with French subs.
2) Yell something about not knowing how to deal with it and flail your arms around because a little black monster is pulling on your face.

I would rather jump off a cliff than see this episode again… Black Star’s voice causes cancer.

god the voices are shit for almost every character, and black stars little happy joyful cry thingy is all wrong. and death the kid sounds like a whiny ten year old
the japanese voices fit well, but why teh hell is black star voiced by a woman?
Blackstar’s voice is…tolerable after a while and I personally think Death sounds great.
Hmmm….I actually like Kid’s voice, in botn english and japanses. Black Stars was a complete let down. He clearly sounds like a five year old girl. Kid’s on the other had…sounds like a rich noob. Which he is

You know…the more I hear their voices the more I’m getting used to them…Black Star doesn’t sound as bad as he did the first time I heard him, but Kid’s voice was a shock. I think it should be a bit deeper than that! Then it would probably be pretty good!!
I think I’m still sticking with Soul Eater through and through. The only voice I’m really gonna have to get used to is Shinigami-Sama’s…. Though it seems like they nailed Patty! And Angela was really good. Mifune was alright…more good than not.
Still hoping though, hoping they’ll improve with time, which they should…. I wonder what Stein and Medusa will sound like…or Chrona! Hmmm….

Teehee! I like the dubs! Kid’s voice. . . . er. . . . well, it’s not as bad as it could have been. The rest of them are pretty much spot-on (again, aside form Black Star. But I can live with that.) I hope episode 3 comes out soon!

seems everyone who leaves a post agrees the voices are off maybe if were lucky they will do voice changes before airing it in 2010.

I mean his voice sounds so… ugh… It kinda seems unfair that everyone’s voices seems to fit them so well but then the good ones are left out. I mean come on!! Kid sounds like he still got wind in his pipes, but then again He is the son of shinigami. But black stars voice kinda ticks me off in a way [or maybe coz I haven't seen the whole thing yet or I ain't used to it yet]. I just feel so disappointed bout this. I mean this is the guy who’s gonna surpass god! They cant leave him with a crappy voice! T_T I just hopes this turns out better than it started out.

I have to disagree, I think they did pretty well on all the voices. Black Star, Death The Kid, Maka and Shinigami are kind of off but overall I don’t feel they totally murdered any one of the characters. I think some people are forgetting that in the Japanese version Black Star was voiced by a woman as well. As far as dubs go I think this is good, I mean they got Death Scythe and Soul perfectly. :3

Tsubaki’s and Death’s were the only ones I didn’t like. Funimation did a pretty good job on this one. Black star’s voiced by a girl but so are most male characters in Japan.
…..I figured, and always thought Black Star reminded me of Naruto; (sry, dun hate on meh) and I figured his voice would kind of be like that… his voice now = fail. I figured Tsubaki would be more softer; almost like Belldandy off of Ah! My Goddess. >>; Makas father I thinks the only perfect voice. xDD

Hmmm, The dub voices are OK, I know they will get better in time.
Dubbing anime is pretty hard to do since people have already seen the Japanese verison and will hate the VAs if there not simlar to the Japasense VAs or better. The best english dubbed anime I’ve seen so far is Death Note. Even though they didn;t dub Death Note, Funamation is pretty good at dubbing..I hope they won’t let me down with Soul Eater!

I don’t find blackstarts voice to be “tone deaf”. It suits his stubborn personality, if you haven’t noticed. So enough with that. Unless, you are a bad judge of character. If you don’t like the english dub, then watch subs then. Done and done.

Really!! wow, black star’s voice was so ridiculous. That voice does not match well with that character. Hopefully there wont be anymore bad voices or i will just have to shoot myself. Tsubaki’s voice was good, damn black star’s voice is still making me feel angry….lol

Anyone noticed that Tsubaki said ”Excuse me im not a microphone, im a Death Scythe, a weapon”? Tsubaki isn’t a Death Scythe. I think that dub fails. I like the original voices more.

Okay, I’ve watched all the dubbed episodes so far and the subs that finish the series and I like all the voices. I mean, do you want to hear someone sound like they are melodramatic drama queens (like all of you are being with the voices bit) when something happens? I mean, these aren’t soap operas, and I hate whining, so please cease, desist, do damage control, and GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!

I hate blackstar… -_-” His voice is annoying and his overall personality is just…. *snaps his neck* Disgusting…
But other than him, I very much so enjoy the series, heha! His voice is perhaps the only flaw I’ve found. Sure, Kid’s voice could’ve been a tad better, but hey, i’ve seen worse (naruto…). I started off at episode 21. I watched it with a friend. Blackstar is my least favorite character. I already know all the characters and the storyline up until episode 35 i believe. It’s a good story and concept and i think that the dub for this is well done. Far better than half the other things I’ve seen… Besides, I see no reason to fret about the voices other than Blackstars. His is the only one that’s reasonable to complain about, but if you find far more reasons to whine like little children, then go find yourselves lives.
