They AT LEAST could’ve devoted an episode or two to the arcane duel between Lord Death and Asura. They did it with other fights in the series, and a good length of time for the fight would’ve been nice. It was awesome, but only 5 exchanges were made between the two..

Why in the hell do they keep cutting the OP off? That better not be how it is in the DVDs…
that’s not how it is in the dvd’s. it’s just editing to make the video a little shorter… kind of futile and a waste though, seeing as how it’s only about a minute long.
Its not futile even though its about a minute long, there’s about 51 episodes imagining listen to the whole song throughout all those episodes.. that would be 51 minute of a song. You can’t skip parts when watching a video because it has to buffer so wen you’re getting to the good part you won’t be able to skip and its not really a good feeling that is why they cut out the openings and endings.

Accually, the time limit for episodes for this site is only 20 minites. Still, it isn`t so hard to just split the episode into two parts. It`s stupid. (note: sorry for misspelled words if there`s any.)
@Zap it isn’t a waste. The place where it is hosted only allows 20 min per video. As you can see, the length of the video is 19:58 which means it was a very close cut. And that one min made all the difference

Hi, I’m a Maka Appreciation Post.
I’m a very very long post, so feel free to skip me if you want.
Basically, the point of this post is to illustrate that Maka Albarn is a stubborn character who specializes in brute strength and taking flying leaps of faith during battle. Which isn’t always good (not in this case obviously), but you do see where it helped her with Chrona. So there is a time and a place for her heroic acts of outstanding courage/bravery/being the epitome of a Gryffindor. However, seeing as she’s also a TEENAGE GIRL who’s still trying to sort out her strengths/weaknesses/identity/priorities, she doesn’t always (pretty much never) SEE that time place where she shouldn’t or should jump into shit (crazy dangerous situations). This, I believe, makes her a very real character and fitting with the story (in my opinion), because perfect characters that know everything about how to fight perfectly are crazy boring (which, I’m happy, it doesn’t seem any of the characters of Soul Eater are without their flaws and battle troubles).
Soul is her tactician as well as her weapon, and yeah he’s willing to take a ton of hits (die for) her, which she doesn’t like. And really, would you like someone always trying to die for you? She may not say “thank you”, but from what I’ve seen she shows very clearly her guilt and WILLINGNESS to push him aside when it might get dangerous for him (with Chrona, both times) and take the hits herself (only, you know, he doesn’t let her that first time, getting him the cut).
Not thanking him for helping her is silly, but she seemed more intent on showing she cared working to get stronger for him. That in itself IS her way of showing appreciation for his sacrifices, to “become stronger so you don’t get hurt like this for me again”. Sure, she never says it, but her character is, again, a stubborn girl who seems to appreciate SHOWING someone over just TELLING them (because yes, she did say she wanted to be stronger/she was sorry, but she seemed more intent on proving it rather than taking her time on nice wording of whys and hows).
She cares about Soul (and I’m willing to bet the others too, though that isn’t as heavily focused on).You all did see how insanely guilty she got over the whole cut thing, right? You DID see how she’s been pushing herself to get stronger to prove she can protect Soul as well as he protects her, right?
She doesn’t realize it (the fact that she’s going too fast and is messing up a lot) now because she’s still growing up, and fixated and obsessed with “becoming as strong as Soul” stage and also “becoming as great as her mother”.
If you’ve read the manga, Book of Eibon Envy chapter, she starts to realize what Soul’s done for her and believes herself unworthy of being his partner. In Sloth, she sits out of a battle and refuses to fight so she wouldn’t end up hurting Soul again. (Spoiler, he don’t take dat shit and ends up getting hurt anyway, Maka realizes she’s stupid, apologizes, and kicks serious ass.) She never says “thank you” (at least I don’t believe she does), but she apologizes for how she handles things (thoughtlessly) and seems to grow a hell of a lot more appreciative of him afterwards (granted the manga hasn’t gotten much farther than that).
I’m pretty certain that was part of her character development. And it takes Soul pushing it into her that he’ll always be there for her to make her realize she can’t just fight alone and neither can he (he gets a wee bit of development himself, since their feelings for each other are pretty much on mutual “I want to be able to help you when you’re hurt” sort of things and it grows on).
I’ve been seeing some serious Maka hate on these episodes, and it’s just been frustrating because where you guys see “a stupid bitch”, I see an awesomely character with flaws and an ability to grow beyond her simple Tsundere trope.
(I also see a female character carrying on a typically male role (Maka as the stubborn battle character) paired with a male character in a typically female role (the caretaker who tries to put sense into stubborn battle character’s head). And both Maka and Soul NAIL it without seeming too woobie/woe is me. This was what originally hooked me onto the show, to be honest.)
The author has characterization spot on, and while everyone’s free to dislike a certain personality, you have to admit, this author does it (yes, even Maka’s) well and makes it fit in to the story.
In my opinion, all of the characters deserve some appreciation for the way they’re handled.
(But, since I’ve seen more people hate on Maka than most the others, except maybe Black*Star and Chrona’s gender, this post is focused solely on what I think makes her a good, strong, flawed character.)

That battle between the Kishin and Lord Death was so EPIC!!! They should make it longer, cause some previous episodes were entirely dedicated to just one battle.
So many people hate on Maka! Face it, she’s a teen, and probably isn’t too good at decision-making, like the rest of us. But she is kind her heart is always in the right place, even though she is a bit careless. (You saw how terribly guilty she was when Soul got that cut from the Demon Sword.)
She’s a great character, so BE NICE
Stop argueing about Crona’s gender. He/she has androgynous qualities, which means Crona could be either a boy or a girl. Poor child. Never had a chance to live a normal life with friends and stuff.

Guys, Medusa didn’t die right away because snakes can bite you even when you have chopped their heads off. She was already dead, it was just further embracing the fact that she was a snake and her body could still react for a little while after disembodiment.
