Megavideo is really harsh. I watched 3 episodes on Megavideo which is around 70 minutes. I went to work, came back and watched around 2 minutes of this episode and it said I still have to wait 54 minutes to watch this episode, despite not watching for the whole evening and night. Thats really stupid, it doesn’t take away the time I have watched, it just adds on till I watch 72 minutes. Megavideo has a good vid player but the limitations make it suck really bad. The best player is Veoh but that isn’t working
In the Chinese and Japanese languages they will refer to someone with a word that isn’t he or she but more like they or it. And in other languages they have certain words that would be used only by guys and some only by girls. So what might be happening with all the translations is that Crona may look like a girl but have a guy’s voice and may use words only guys or girls would use and the translators just can’t tell. At least, that’s what I believe is going on with the translators… Personally; I think Crona is a guy, because the first time Maka met him he blushed and said he didn’t know how to talk to girls. Or he could be a she and be a lesbian, that’s perfectly possible, too.

–The subs I found are decent most of the time, it just seems to be this episode is translated oddly. It seems like it was translated quite literally and is a little confusing. ^^;

Note on the whole Chrona being a boy/girl thing:
I’m just an american with a little knowledge of Japanese (because I’m currently on a student exchange in Japan), but I believe Chrona is a guy. Firstly, Chrona uses the word “boku” for “I” which usually only guys use. If a girl were to use that word it would probably be a more boyish, tough girl. I think that Chrona being a boy and using “boku” more fit’s his personality. Secondly, when Ragnork pulled up Maka’s skirt, the recaction between everyone seemed to suggest that Chrona was a guy (like Chrona looking all 0.o, and Maka using her “maka chop”. And lastly, even though it’s not the greatest explanation: up to this point, I’ve watched Soul Eater without looking at the subtitles and so did not know (untill I saw the comments) that they were refering to Chrona as a girl. So while watching it I thought that Chrona was a boy. Again, I’m not an expert at Japanese, I’m just saying what I think. And I think that Chrona is a guy.

Chrona is obviously and without a doubt a girl. I dont know why the subs keep calling her a guy. She wears a dress, sounds like a girl, looks like a girl (a tomboyish girl, but a girl nonetheless) and she acts like a girl when ragonorak bullies her. The reason she doesnt say words indicating shes a she is because you gotta remember shes pretty messed up in the head.
Chrona has a scene on some episode in Italy that HE said as HE fights against Maka,” I dont know how to deal with GIRLS” dhat mhean that Chrona is a GIRL SHY BOY!There are lot of anime characters which are simmillar to him.
And the subs in the 3 part videos suck ass. I couldnt understand anything that was going on so I switched to watching on megavid where the subs actually make sense.

Is Chrona a boy or a girl? Because before it said he/she/it was a boy then a girl and its so confusing =(
okay… I’m pretty sure Crona is a girl, cuz in the manga, they translated it as “Crona is my own DAUGHTER” (medusa) and secondly, yes, Crona has no chest, neither does Maka.
THIRD she wears a DRESS and as far as I’m concerned, guys don’t wear dresses. LASTLY, the whole “boku” thing, I’ve seen a kazillion animes where the girls use boku… And that’s… yeah…
Well, in truth, I think that Chrona is definatly a guy. For one, in the first episode we see him he gets nervous around Maka because quote “I don’t know how to act around girls.” I mean come on, how does that not make him a guy?! And plus, even if his voice is a girls, japanese do that all the time to make a boy sound younger or more innocent. Guys get a woman to voice them all the time! And plus, like everyone is pointing out, he refers to himself as ‘boku’, a term that is extremly rarely used by girls. And another thing; if he was a girl, wouldn’t he have a chest? And plus, did you see his reaction when Ragnork pulled up Maka’s skirt? I don’t think I girl would have that kind of reaction that he did. I have no idea why the subs here are calling him a girl, but HE’S NOT!!!! I mean come on, he looks nothing like a girl at all! Where do people keep getting the idea that he’s a girl?!?!?!?!?!

Crona doesn’t have a specific gender. Even though he wears female looking clothing they basically said he was a guy in the anime to prevent confusion. In the manga he is said to be a girl. We will never know the truth.
