I think the answer to your question is because probaly she’d get bored with the same object sitting in place day in and day out so they constanly switch it around to make it a different look in the room.
I hope you can make out what i’m saying? That’s kind of like re-arranging your furniture around and not letting sitting in the same place forever. you want something new to/in your view.

About the pottery thing…I think they were adapting to the “mood”. You notice when they started getting worked up they put pottery there with spikes, then when that misquito person’s nose went BOING they replaced the ones with spikes with longer ones. That’s my guess, seems logical though.
