Aaahhh…thank god! They’re already getting better! Black Star doesn’t sound as bad as he did the first time! I’m getting used to the voices! Soul Eater still lives on!
Kid’s voice isn’t really good for like…seriousness, but when he’s freaking out over symmetry it’s pretty fitting! And the sisters are good too!
Ehhh… I’m not too sure about Kidd’s voice. When he’s freaking out it sounds okay, but when I first heard it, something was off about it.
Anyways, Black Star is definitely getting better, and I like Sid’s voice. Liz and Patti’s voices are good, too!

Im suprised, the dub came out good!! I still like the original better. The only thing that bugs me is Black Star’s voice. They shouldn’t have gotten a girl to do it, but it has it’s moments….. rawr

I love Kid’s voice!! The voice actor has done so many characters that I love (like Hikaru in Ouran High School Host Club), so I can’t help but fall in love with his voice XD

Funnily engouh, this is how far I’ve got with this series too – with all the other stuff going on at the moment it fell by the wayside a bit (the Excalibur filler episode didn’t help). I’m actually detecting a pattern here: the two series that are stuck in Backlog Hell, namely Soul Eater and Legend of the Galactic Heroes, are the longest in my current watchlist. Maybe I’m finding the sheer length of them a bit daunting and decide to catch up on shorter series first instead…?But yeah, #18 was a really great episode – the dynamics between the characters, arguably the driving force of the series, suddenly gives way to a serious plot thread that poses a lot of fundamental questions. Why does the Shinigami never leave his school? What is Medusa plotting? This sharp turnaround got my attention all over again so like you I’ll be tempted to get back into this one now.

the voices kinda suck but are somewhat tolerable after a while. however the dub might be better if they just got Vic Mignogna to play all the characters lol.

The Dub officially sucks!! The voices aren’t that bad but what the hell are they doing changing the names of things?? ARGH it annoys me so much, yeah we all know shinigama-sama is death but why call him that in the dub its an insult to real anime fans (plus his voice sucks compared to the sub.) Final point….when characters are yelling at one another or something else it sounds a hell of alot better in japanese. The only acceptable animes in english are the ones set in England (Hellsing for example) Im done ranting now love souleater, one of the best animes iv seen but will not be watching the dub coz dubs suck more balls than tom cruise could ever imagine haha.
I love this dub, like I love FMA and Hellsing.I’ve tried to watch the Sub, but even when its telling me what their saying, I can’t stand it. I hate having to look for subtitles and not watching whats going on. Plus if I watch english first, the voices stick. Its kind of like Jack Sparrow from Pirates of The Caribean not being played by Johnny Depp.
I don’t mind if you like it or not, but I will always stick to english. True Blackstar sounds like a girl, but so dose Envy from FMA. I’m used to boys sounding like girls. I actally think Shinigami-sama’s voice is alright. I like something that plays around with people’s expectations. I was expecting a typical Reaper with a dark voice, but when I saw Shinigami-sama, I loved it! I like it because it makes not so threatening. I love Liz and Patti’s voices too, Maka is good, and I agree that Soul’s voice seems to low.
(I hate sexual reverencies in comments. Makes me think I’m a total idot for watching the Dub)

Soul: Just needs to be a LITTLE bit higher and it’ll be perfect!
Kid: Just needs to be a LITTLE bit deeper but other than that I LOVE IT!!!

Hmm the english dubbed did better than I expected. I love the voice actors in the anime for many of their other roles but the one voice that does bug me is Shinigami-sama’s and how they changed it to lord death. I wasn’t so sure if Todd was the right choice for death the kid but i suppose its okay. Overall I will eventually get use to it.

I thought Kid’s voice was a bit too high and Shinigami’s voice is not as flamboyant as the original, but I’m hoping it’ll get better later.
I can get used to Kid’s voice as long as his freakouts on symmetry will become slightly more emotional.

People put time into that so that those who speak English can actually /watch/ the anime.. and not just rely on reading subtitles.
