Silly, Kid! It wasn’t Medusa who checked out the book, it was none other than Maka! Eh…I really wish they went over that in the anime, this is why they should start another season of Soul Eater, this time following the Manga!

furthermore, if u check the handwriting of the autograph with a closer look,
u can see a vector-like symbol at the end of the second line of the M.
Second, the M is scribbled with sharp lines, personally i don’t think Maka would write like that.
Third, why in the hell would Maka want to read about something like this, she has never shown any interest in the history of Lord Death
I’ll explain:
You do know how Spirit is with Maka, right? He’ll do anything to get her approval, so she takes advantage of that and borrows his ID to check out some new reading material.
Maka checks out a manuscript of the Book of Eibon because she has a natural thirst for knowledge, attempting to study absolutely anything with informational value (like when Stein is fighting Crona, when Justin is defending the students, or when going through a stack of books for the Super Written Exam).
We saw Kid’s signature for the Exam, and we saw Death’s and Eibon’s on the demon tool. They all have some kind of style to ‘em (especially if they happen to be writing in a hurry ~ because they don’t want to keep their father’s ID for too long ~ or else they might get caught).
Lastly, Maka doesn’t sign her full name because it keeps her from getting caught with a fourth-level book.

The “M” is useless unless you’ve read the manga in which Maka uses her dad’s ID to get the book. Which I still don’t fully understand because the last episodes show no sign that she was interested AT ALL in the topic of Eibon. Last episode, at the end when they tell you what to expect in the next episode, Maka and Medusa narrate and said they have one thing in common for this episode. Neither of them would be in it. But “M” could stand for an entirely different person, couldn’t it?
