To all of those who are complaining about the subs not being out, the translators do have a life in which is not centered completely around subbing the episodes, I know it takes a while but watchers gotta be patient.

Sorry. xD I think you’re right. I also have a limited knowledge of the language, but I have learned that when two words are combined, sometimes the lettering changes a bit. ‘Kage’ + ‘Hoshi’ = ‘Kageboshi’, similarly to how ‘Shini’ (Death) + ‘Kami’ (God) becomes ‘Shinigami’ (Death God).
Or something like that. >_> Black Star’s personality is frighteningly similar to Naruto’s anyway.

You are right about Naruto having a good start. Despite being extremely slow in storytelling, the first 60 or so episodes were decent, every episode usually ended in a cliffhanger, it was annoying but usually left me wanting more. But, after Gaara turned into that big, stupid looking, animal thing, and Naruto turned into that crappy fox, my head was about to explode so I just retired from watching it. The fight was too stupid, and in the end Gaara just got a big headbutt and he was out cold. I thought Gaara was a cool character before that episode.
There is a lot of action but the action tends to drag on. For example against Zabuza, I got REALLY bored during that fight because it was going at such a slow pace. That sums up Naruto in my opinion. Slow pace, it may have better story telling and characters than a show like DBZ but DBZ had that entertainment value, it rarely got boring, there was rarely too much talking. I even remember the fillers actually being not crap. Specifically the one where Chichi makes Goku and Piccolo get a drivers license and the one where Krillin dumps his girlfriend and 2 seconds later she is driving away with some dude. OK off topic.
NOW SOUL EATER, if I was to be honest it has had a MASSIVE decline from the first season and even early into the second Season. But ever since Crona and Marie went to find Stein, the series has just gone downhill, there are points when I don’t even understand the story anymore, or points when it just gets plain boring. I do want to watch more, but it needs to improve because the story telling is NOT thrilling at all, and that’s the problem, its trying to focus heavily on a story that is not brilliant. I mean CRONA IS ALIVE??? Oh, come on, you set a beautiful, yet sad scene, where Crona finally fights to protect his (My opinion on the gender, I could be wrong) friends, only to die straight after. But instead the writers decide ‘actually lets turn this into one of those generic shonen moments where a character is fatally yet manages to survive for some unknown reason.’ It’s like we are walking on water with this story, the harder we run, the less ground we seem to cover
It needs to speed up the story and increase the action because there are still a bunch of unresolved questions and battles.

I don’t see how they can cover all of this in a couple of episodes. If they skip stuff just to finish in 51 episodes I’d overall be disappointed, and if they just leave it on some stupid cliffhanger that never gets continued, I’d just get pissed off, destroy any memories of Soul Eater I had and move on. This is where the writers need to get their fingers out of their asses and give this a proper ending. The last 5 or 6 episodes haven’t been brilliant but there is still time for improvement I guess.
P.S. Black Star isn’t dead, for anyone that may think otherwise

Funimation do decent dubs. Look at Full Metal Alchemist and School Rumble
It was good that Mifune won. I like both characters but lets face it, Mifune was just better. I’m tired of young characters in mangas and animes coming back to beat people after getting their ass handed to them after a short amount of time.So even though this fight was not as visually interesting as it was in the manga it is a hell of a lot more realistic. That being said the whole flash back thing was stupid and felt tacked on.
That being said I agree that the anime is getting progressively worse as time goes on. I hope I still like it by the time the ending of episode 51 rolls around but i’m doubting it now.
Anyone who liked the episode where Crona “died” is insane. That was totally cheap emotional manipulation to get the tears flowing and get Maka angry enough to use the Demon Hunter. Real realistic. We are supposed to believe the situation is critical but none of our main characters die?
On top of that, Medusa v Maka was pathetic. Medusa the grand magnificent bastard of the series was beaten with one attack. Oh god that’s stupid.
I got into Soul Eater because it seemed like the kind of anime that was more realistic when it comes to shounen animes. They had the balls to make the heroes lose some times and even had the stones to put on of the good guy’s motives in question (Shinigami) but now it seems they lost their nerve and they are going for the unrealistic ending where everyone gets to live despite the fact that there should be some casualties amongst the heroes. Retarded.

Have you read the manga?
It goes much longer and the storyline goes in a sorta completely different direction.
I like that this show is only 51 episodes long because then you can usually fit everything that needs to be done and said into the anime right? Usually.
Unless…it’s from a manga, which Soul Eater is so it’s kind of of balanced but it’s still really good.
If this show wasn’t as short as it is it’d be as long as Naruto or Bleach and everyone would get tired of it.
I’m just glad that Soul isn’t really going deep into the madness like I thought he would but Black Star is…weird.
I’m also glad that Chrona didn’t die but it sure looked like he did and it almost would’ve been justifiable for Maka to be able to use the Demon Hunter afterwords.
That is if he actually died. It get’s old kinda fast when an enemy shoots to kill, the good guy get “fatally” wounded but doesn’t die.
I mean even Goku died at least twice. C’mon now.
Also(long comment is long sorry), please stop saying that this show is getting worse. It’s not like it was bad when you first watched it cuz then you wouldn’t still be watching.
Last thing: these subs weren’t that great. I could have waited for better ones. Like Gundam 00, I check everyday but I’ll still wait for decent subs.

I read some of the manga (the parts worth reading) which is why I was more sad when I watched this episode. Black Star v Mifune part 3 in the Manga was good (if pictures are anything to go by) Black Star even unlocked this ultimate Demon sword I have never seen before. In this he just got rinsed. I still like to watch Soul Eater but its just not the same as it used to be

I’m glad Black Star died, because if Black Star was going to start killing at random like White Star then…who would want him to stick around? Besides Mifune’s a Samurai and Samurais for the most part, always win. Besides did you not see how epicly Mifune dispatched Black Star? xD!

I’m not trying to use Naruto as an example of THE perfect manga. Many times too I thought the plot was kind of “cheap”, but hey it started on a humourous tone. The point that I was trying to make is to show a manga where they went through the same bullshit before (characters suddenly recovering from a fatal wound … happens a lot at the beginning of Naruto), but obviously for a while now the series has taken a much darker tone. The actual deaths makes it just a little bit more consistent, you don’t feel like the people who write are just bluntly playing with your emotions that much. What I was trying to say is I kind of wished soul eater had evolved too, to something a bit darker maybe, even if the humourous tone had to suffer a bit from it. Meh I still think it’s worth watching though, but it did not live to its potential.

They said, at 21:33, Eibon-chan (meaning Eibon’s a girl…
But earlier, I’m pretty sure they said Arachane and Eibon were lovers or at least that’s what I thought they said…
Again, I could be wrong, I also think the -chan honorific can be used for cuteness or whatever, and it was Shinigama who said it so…
Woah woah,wtf is all this? This shit didnt happen in the manga? Whats with excalibur coming out of no where? In the part I was up to in the manga medusa actually teamed up with the shibusen students to reach baba yaga’s castle. And black star actyally kicked ass in his fight with mifune.
They just changed the whole plot around to make their deadline of 51 episodes…

This episode, I’m sure, would be much more satisfying if I COULD ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT WAS THAT THE CHARACTERS SAID. I appreciate the early subbing and all, but seriously, I am so confused! I have no idea what the relationship between Eibon and Arachne was! And it was really annoying that half of the subs had nice capitalization and the other half did not (xD that just really got on my nerves).
Even if it was early subbing, couldn’t the translator have taken the time to at least make the subs look nice? Capitalization wouldn’t take that long! Half the subs weren’t even in correct English!!
Sorry for my rant, but I really want to understand this episode for me to get on to the next one. Does anyone know where to find a better subbed one?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m really thankful somebody decided to sub these, but… what would the use of having subs be when I can’t even understand a THING they’re saying? I have to translate them myself, and I’m not even good at Japanese, but I can at least understand it more than the subs.

Demon Slayer (I like calling it that because it sounds better) = Rasenshuriken
Both are WAYYYY too powerful. And too convenient to use.
1. Demon Slayer only kills evil things and it can kill them in one shot AND it’s unblockable. Also,Maka can use Demon Slayer whenever she gets pissed off. (If she played Carnival Games while listening to McFly she would destroy the world).
2. Rasenshuriken tears apart all of the cells in the victims body and it can be thrown AND it’s unblockable. Also, Naruto can use it whenever he wants, with no effects.
See.
Also both the Maka vs Medusa and Naruto vs Nagato fights have bad gimmicks.
1. Chrona dies from a horrible injury and somehow comes back to life.
2. Nagato finds out that Jiriya made a book character that sounds a tiny bit like him, so he gives up.
At last, Chrona and Kakashi both die, but come back to life.

why the hell is Excalibur included in the main plot. i had no trouble with the anime deviating from the manga but it’s becoming worse. the anime keeps becoming inconsistent in some situations like Excalibur explaining the story of eibon.

Eh. I couldn’t really enjoy the episode because the subtitles sucked so much; in format (mispelled words, uncapitalized names) and translation (what was with the lazy bit in the middle where Kid and Death were talking?!) Grammar could’ve used some work too.
Oh well. Thank goodness I know enough Japanese to sort out the subtitles in my head.
But I think I’d be better off watching a RAW version.
… Part way through the video the subtitles cut out, and the translation was not the best.
