Not really. Black*Star and Kid got Asura to go to his normal form (instead of that huge form). So Maka didn’t really do much (she just landed the finishing blow)…to me, it looked like she just took the credit for Black*Star and Kid’s work. xD
Then again, I don’t really like Maka, so that’s just my interpretation. :<

why do you assume Corna is a boy? i am almost positive its a girl. her name is genderless, she always has a dress on, she sounds like girl, and in the series they never give it a gender. so i guess its up for debate, tho i am sure Corna is a girl.

I’d have to agree with Stein. Crona doesn’t need a girlfriend/lover yet, what he needs is a nurturing personality, like a mother figure, which Maka can deliver.

a whole new soul eater series is in the process of being dubbed it may take awhile but im sure we’ll learn more on her weapon side. but i do agree, the ending was so terrible i cried.
i still have to say that it was Kid who really beat the Kishin… maka never would have made it if Kid didn’t get rid of Ashura’s “big” form. So…. go KID! <3

My only annoyance is that I never got to see Maka’s mother. Oh, and that Witch Angela didn’t appear enough.
Other than that, it was great. Though the ending was nothing special, it still seemed to finish the story off nicely. All in all, I’m quite satisfied with this anime. Well worth putting up with staying at my dad’s to watch it.

Soul himself is awesome, although they didn’t go into him enough in the series, it’s like they just focused on Kid and Black Star (Evans? the demon called Soul that a while ago but never went into it WTF. My theory is that Soul came from this snoody rich family and thats why he plays the piano because he was forced to. ) PS Asura is pretty hot, just crazy.

Since the manga isn’t finished yet, and a new manga series called Soul Eater Not! is starting next month, I’d say we can expect another series or two in the future.
Anyway, this is a great series. Can’t wait to see more!

Just because Kid is an insanely, awesome BEAST!… Doesn’t mean he beat Ashura. Black*Star was able to take the large mummy down and rip off his fricken arm. Basically, Kid would have never made that shot himself and Black*Star could have made the demon small himself… Kid just just did it faster and awesom…er.
Then they would’ve died if Maka wasn’t there; there’s this thing called “team work” guys. Buuuut…

fuck no, kid did the easy part. when the kishyan took his true form he became more powerful. Maka killed him not only without a weapon, but with only one punch.
what a load of shit. the ending blew. bravery, she killed him with bravery. fuck that, it is such a cop out when shows end with the hero getting random power from some stupid place, because without it they stands no chance. Maka, kid, and black star should have died, they stood no chance. but everyone would rather a bull shit happy ending instead of a realistic one. if death could not kill the kishyan no one could.

OPINION: Kid should have kicked the Kishin’s ass in the end…not Maka. Either that or they should have combined all of their powers at once to kill the Kishin with one final blow. The whole, “I’m-brave-and-I’ll-kill-you-with-one-punch” thing was…lame…considering Lord Death even fell to the Kishin. It was a bit disappointing.. ‘-_-)
But I will admit, all-in-all the whole ‘bravery’ concept /was/ heartwarming. ^^
I agree with you that Kid should of been the one to finish him, to avenge his father. But the reason Lord Death fell to the Kishin was only because he was protecting Kid. If the Kishin did not target Kid, then Death could of beat him. But then again, people would see that coming, and that would make it uninteresting. Just my opinion.

KidxMaka — i dont think either of the thompson sisters would suit Kid as a romantic companion, if Maka were to marry Soul, she would be just like her mother, i like to think that she wouldnt want to end up like her parents… but then again im sure Soul wouldn’t cheat like Spirit…. Maka and Kid seem (in my oppion) best suited for one another.

Does anyone else feel like the only reason they had Asura kill Arachne (spelling?) was so that they wouldn’t end the series on a cliffhanger?
Also, I like the implication at the end of the series, where Death sticks that soul under a cross thing.

Fool! There was more than one season. 4 total I believe. So you had 4 seasons, this thing just lumped them all together into 51 episodes. Totally unsymmetrical. They should have 8 seasons, with 88 episodes. That would be totally symmetrical. Oh how I love symmetry.

I am HIGHLY dissapointed. I thought we’d get to see Maka’s awesome mother at least ONCE before it all ended. I thought all hope was gonna be lost and Maka was all worn out the suddenly bursting through the Kishins barriar in come Maka’s mother with a incredibly powerful death scyth and BOOM!!! With a couple of swings and the Kishin Hunter technique she slays the Ashura…or she could’ve at least walked into the scene in the very end of the credits. =_= But still the anime in it self was really good and Maka weilding blades out of her body was super awesome. =^w^= Too bad Madusa had to die…she was my favorite character.

I hope this is kinda how Fullmetal Alchemist was. There was a original anime series that wasn’t totally based on the manga. Then Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood was completely based off the manga. At the beginning of both Soul Eater and FMA anime series, there were exact or similar details from the manga but as it got closer to the end things were totally different. Plus the manga is still going on and it doesn’t look like it will be over anytime soon.

Why do people keep saying that kid, or black star did more damage to the kieshen? ALL 3 worked together to kill him! Do you think that black star alone could of killed him? NO. Maybe his bigger body, but the smaller form of the kieshen destroyed black star (not literally, he was just unconscious) Same with kid, the only one that could kill the smaller form of the kieshen was Maka, but she couldnt kill the bigger form.
Basically if all 3 didn’t work together all of them would of died…

…….” Are you joking”! Black? Star finally makes his sword stronger and defeats Mifune, Kid creates a super cannon that was like holy crap(even though it was just put in at the last moment with no real background other the Kishin going I know what that is, and while I’m at it, say Kids deaths son. Like dang was that not said an episode ago), and Maka dos….a punch to the face. What happened to Maka being a weapon, the idea was just kicked in at the last moments and then lost in a blink of an eye. That just completely left me with a feeling of disgust. Also the creators throw the word bravery at you the whole time just to what, throw in a catchy word that sounded good at the time. I loved this anima but this ending was kind of the pits and completely not COOL. The makers spend what 51 episodes to tell this anime story. Why not add 1 or 2 more episodes just to put in a real ending. This just seemed to be way to rushed I think. I would have loved to see what Maka would have done with her fighting with this new weapon form she kind of just got out of nowhere. Heck Justin Law and Giriko battled each other like that for I think about 3 times. I could be wrong about how many times, but dang when the one battle that would have made the difference why not try to go all out, in order to leave your watchers with the feeling of holy crap that was epic. But no! Even the Kishin was a fail, he was given the appearance of super powerful god, and then was turned into a weakling in a flash. And whys that, just because someone told him the word bravery. And I don’t think just because you take a couple of hits shouldn’t leave your enemy acting like a little girl, that’s trying to run away from you. Well any way I’m glade that the anime was good while it lasted. But I do hope that someone along the line makes a whole new ending to this fight, as I’d love to see a true fight amongst the person they were giving so much hype too, and the monster that everyone was afraid of the whole time. As there’s really no excuse as to why not. Heck Evangel ion has had 4 movies just summing up the original anime and leaving with a different ending to the one that people kind of had a sick feeling for its ending. So ya a new ending would be amazing. Heck maybe while there at it show what Maka looks like when she turns into her weapon form, as she had a crap load of weapon blades coming out of her. So just imagine what would have happened then. And so maybe having the Kishin face falling apart might make allot more since, like holy crap she cut my face in two with a super epic scythe blade, not…..o she punched me, and holy crap my face if breaking like a mirror.

An interesting ending to an interesting anime. When my friend first mentioned this to me, i almost didn’t watch it simply because of its name. I am glad that i didn’t decide so. I can’t say that the ending was the greatest, but it was adequate. The series as a whole was an enjoyable episode, and i would recommend it to anyone who asks of it.

Wow. In Response to Flare Fang: The creators did not simply cast aside Maka’s ability to be a weapon, there was a point to it. She could only be a weapon while she was unconscious, and in that time it was true that she had no fear, but she also had no bravery, which is why her attacks, while appearing awesome, were without effect. However, the Kishan knew how to awaken Maka. His weapon is fear and madness, and one cannot experience either of those without consciousness. Maka wasn’t even conscious on a spiritual level, which is why we never saw anything to the effect of a scene change in which she’s standing in her own psyche talking to herself, like this show so loves to do throughout. Therefore, she had to be awakened through Pain, a feeling that is physical. Given that she was alive, the only way to speak to her psyche was through physical pain. Therefore, her ability to use a weapon was irrelevant, because the Kishan cannot be defeated through physical attacks as well. His body cannot feel pain, he was not afraid of pain, so pain couldn’t communicate with his Psyche. To further develop her ability to be a weapon was pointless and would have prolonged something that needed to be finished.
Furthermore, the Word Bravery wasn’t ‘thrown in there’ like some random catch phrase. If you know anything about Art, you’d know that characters, action, conflict, resolution…none of is real. It all stems from concepts. Concepts are given substance through Words. The three words in question were, “Bravery,” “Fear,” and “Madness.” These are concepts of human emotion. This is what the anime is all about. Notice how all of the characters always have some strange obsession? Black Star wanted Power/Strength/Victory. Death wanted Perfection. Soul wanted Calmness/Coolness/Collectiveness ( something that Maka admired as well ), Spirit wanted Acceptance. Crona wanted to learn how to deal with people, so he either wanted Understanding. These characters were all flawed and Archetypal, because they weren’t crafted to be people, they were crafted to represent their concepts.
What this anime pulls into question is ( mainly ) this: How do we conquer fear, without dying? Asura’s answer was through Madness. Only through Madness can we lose ourselves enough that we don’t question whether or not we will die, or be annoyed, or any silly thing that a human might fear. However, Maka believed that Bravery could conquer Fear. In the end, bravery did conquer fear, because who was the manifestation of fear? Asura was. He was always afraid, even of himself. Which is why he sought madness. To accept it wholly is to remove oneself from themselves, thus through madness Asura managed to escape his fear. But he never beat his fear, he only ever ran from it, like how Crona ran from the Others, and the responsibility of Understanding. In the end, because he was only masking his fear, it caught up with him. It is something that would have happened whether Maka had fought him or not. ( Only, probably far too late for the world to not be conquered by Madness, and thus fear. ) In the end, even his search for Madness was instigated by Fear, so…Asura was defeated on so many levels he couldn’t possibly know…
Bravery, unlike Madness, conquers fear. Unlike Madness, and unlike Hatred, it doesn’t do this by running away or by simply destroying Fear. Bravery defeats fear, by accepting Fear. Maka never denied her fear; and if you think about it, everytime in the show that she did, she was in her low points. She won because instead of rejecting it, she accepted it and moved passed it. Just like Soul accepted the Madness within himself, not allowing it to conquer him nor denying it and completely destroying that which was apart of him. Just like Doctor Stein eventually came to accept that despite his tendency to be a rule-breaker or a little Looney, he had friends and such that he loved.
In the end, Soul Eater wasn’t about a big fight between a giant demon and a little girl.
It was about the fight between the giant demon inside each and every one of us. In fact, about the many thousands of demons. But the statement was that through bravery and through other good traits, we can save ourselves.
However, I disagree. The author/director addresses Bravery and Madness as the two overshadowing traits. However, these concepts are only branch concepts. They stem off of another concept. Madness is one branch of a great tree, that tree is called Hatred. Hatred is a base concept.
In the human Psyche, there are Seven Base Concepts.
Love, Hatred, Fear, Desire, Apathy, Weakness, Strength. These are the Natural Seven. It is inherent to human psychology to understand and wield these. All humans, at a base level ( whether they are consciously aware of it or not ) understand these concepts. They cannot exactly articulate them, but these are the feelings that every human has. In essence, these seven are the only human emotions that we actually feel. Every other emotion stems from it. Happiness, Anger, Sadness, all of these -ness words come from these basic seven traits. They are not emotions, they are results of emotions. Anger at a person results in Hatred; not toward that person but at something they have either done or stood for. Happiness can result from Love. Loneliness from Isolation.
My thought is, it’s not Bravery which conquers fear. Because Bravery isn’t inherent to human psychology. There is no such thing as Bravery. There is only the Seven. Bravery can be a result of Hatred, Strength, Desire, and Apathy. Oh, and also of LOVE.
However, the result of braveness may vary based on its root trait. For instance, the bravery a man experiences from Apathy will not be the same Bravery he experiences from Hatred.
The real question of the anime is, “Why isn’t she afraid?” And the answer is, “Because of Bravery.” But I think there is a question they are forgetting to answer. Asura asks, “Why? What makes her so brave???!!!” Maka wields the most powerful kind of Bravery. Maka wields a bravery which is so strong that it can defeat Madness and, even though her punch was essentially without effect, it carried Inspiration which sunk so far down into the Kishan Asura, that she spoke to his soul. A soul which was so deep in madness not even PAIN could awaken it. And the power of that bravery, why was she so Brave? Because Maka had Love.
Love = Bravery
Love > Fear
Bravery > Madness
Love = Clearly the Primary and Most important of the Natural Seven.
ummm FOOL, I understand that, but my point in the whole rant was the ending should of ended in a way were you would be left with a since of satisfaction not disgust. I was able to understand everything else, and I know about the bravery part an all, but yet it seeming to be that way in the ending. And I know I’m not the only one whom thinks this as you have a large load of people saying almost the same thing just it was not worded the same. Anyway this really doesn’t matter anymore as this was a nice anime that was just added to my list of watched animes that I’ve seen. And heck I’ve already seen around 4 + fully watched animes since the last time I’ve seen anything soul eater, so I’m just saying what got me unhappy with this one. As it’s the only anime ending that has made me so unhappy with, out of the 30+ animes I’ve already seen already. And holy cow you had that much time to type that much. I feel bad for you, and I thought I had a lot of time on my hands crap. But good mind on ya fellow anima watcher you truly do look deep into animes I can see. Hopefully well conversat about an anime in the future that is not with us arguing a point about something as childish as this, id enjoy it a little more than this.
