The show is practically done, 51 episodes is enough. Maybe they’ll make an ova or a movie later on, regardless this show doesn’t need to carry on forever, we already have enough of those shows -.-’.

I really hope that shinigami doesn’t die :X I wonder if Death the Kid is going to be the heir, or he just releases the ultimate power inside. Probably, Maka will lose soul, but she uses Excalibur to kill him, but then get soul back becuz the madness stopped flowing… YAY! ARACHNE IS DED!

it’s not going to be longer, and the manga is longer because the manga is a completely different story, i mean, Butadaki Joe is dead in the manga and has been for quite a while. It’s not secret that they made the anime shorter on purpose. besides its better that way, anyone notice how the animation for the kishin vs. shinagami fight animation was kind of bull shi*?

hopefully it means they were putting the good animators and money on the final 2 episodes for this season, kinda how the animation and quality in the first episode, was AMAZING!..

but yeah, its not going to be longer, if there is another season…. it wouldnt make sense.

keeping the anime short and good was definitely the right way to go. cmon, FLCL, whats it like 6 episodes. awesomeness.

personally i really don’t like blackstar, he earned some style points in the episodes where tsubaki got the fey blade mode, but other wise hes just a comedy releif character who is a complete ripoff of naruto.

Hmm…I will be disappointed if the last episode is a bust, but it’s true that the anime shouldn’t go on any longer than this.

The fights started out pretty cool, but after all the new weapons were revealed it became a little…repetitive. I was absolutely disappointed with Shinigami vs Asura (by the way, has anyone noticed that his name mysteriously changed to ‘Ashura’? Must be a subbing thing.), all they did is talk! The episode might as well have been titled, ‘Shinigami goes down in one blow’.

Although I think it’s very unlikely the whole thing will end with Asura standing on the crumbling skull, that would look incredibly cool. I always want that alternate scenario where the bad guy wins XD The ending credits are amazing.

Well, we shouldn’t get too disappointed. There’s always the manga. Still, I would like to know why Excalibur mysteriously showed up and started calling everybody idiots in eps 48-49!

you no, i thot this anime would be about soul and maka trying to overcome the madness inside of them (black blood), but it seems like this show has seriously lost its focus with arachne and everyone else. arachne wasn’t even nescesary for the plot!! what did she do? she sat around and motorboated ashura. they even killed of the main enemy medusa, and even whent so far as to put her in a childs body!! what ever happend to that kid?

arrrgh this anime is tanking just like the economy!!!!

the only suitable ending now is to let ashura pwn everyone and take the world in madness. i liked him better as the pretty boy form, the giant form makes him look like hes at a college frat boy toga party.

You aren’t really clear what you are ranting about but there are 51 episodes. And Soul Eater has been split into 2 Seasons. Demon God Revival then Arachnophobia. 1 is 25 eps and 1 is 26 eps I believe.

DBZ was never originally planned to go further than the Frieza saga but look what happened. I don’t think there will be a new Season, but at the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if there was

Ok… personally I think Arachne deserved to die just for babying the Kishin like that. She had potential for the story and then she went all maternal. What the hell was she thinking?! I’m glad she’s gone. It’s one less bit of filler-baggage-garbage for the story to be carrying.

I don’t really care if the episodes go on or not. What has happened so far hasn’t been too bad, and I’m sure there’s plenty of ways to continue if they really wanted to…

Also, for those of you who clearly weren’t paying much attention: Rachel is fine. Stein said that the Demon-hunter technique could only hurt evil. Medusa’s soul was the only thing that got hurt. Afterwards they probably just took the poor kid home. I personally would prefer that they spent the screen time on a really serious battle instead of watching a cutesy little reunion. If the reunion does happen it’ll probably come after this big battle anyway.

I’m pretty sure Soul is going to try and subvert Maka with the madness at this point and there will be some kind of struggle on the inside. That’s the part that really interests me. The battle going on outside with Black Star and Kid is pretty lame so far and I don’t expect it to get any better.

i just can’t wait to see the next episode.

Gurren Lagan, personally is one of my favorite series, and considering it came from the creators or / and writers of / studio, (gainax) that made FLCL i would expect nothing less.

Alright, I just want to say, THERE ARE 2 (TWO) SEASONS!!! Not 1 (one). ‘Kay? I just wanted to let everyone know because people keep saying that and yet there are even more comments talking about how there has to be a season 2…

Alright, you can just skip the rest of the message (lol).

Personally, I feel ending it now is a good thing. Think of InuYasha, it lasted for like…1000 episodes (exageration) and they didn’t even finish it (it probably got cancelled because it was going on for so long. People most likely lost interest.). The manga went on for even longer and I didn’t even think about reading it, it was so long. Do we want such a thing to happen to Soul Eater? Hell no! This is an awesome manga/anime and I don’t want the same terrible thing that happened to InuYasha and so many other mangas/animes to happen to this series! Such a thing would make me very sad… :’-( So, even though I would love to see more of Maka, Soul, Black Star, Tsubaki, Kid, Patty, and Liz, (and the rest of course! ) I don’t want those terrible things to happen to it!

There is so much not explained in this for it to be the last episode. such as who else was in shimigami’s team. who are the other death sythes. are there going to be any storries from the manga(its completly different…well not completly but there really is no comparison).

Well ever since the OPENING video changed it was season 2. Just like in Naruto. there were a few season’s in the past.

One thing i have noticed is that during the beginning of the Shinigami VS. Asura battle there was a shot of Shinigami surrounded by eight (i believe) people, one of which being Asura himself. Most of the others have yet to be revealed. And yes i know some of them have been showed but there is a possibility of a second season and if there is i doubt it will extend farther then that, who knows. We will find out soon enough

- I told you all the animation would get better, and I was so right, they probably still have a few nice little treats for us in the last ep. maybe it will be an hour special, because yeah they do have a lot to explain, and even to do a fast forward time lapse would be pretty lame in only 30 min, + usually you have an hour special with these kind of things, but maybe not.

- who cares if Mifune becomes a teacher, sure he’s a bad ass, but it’s not relevant to the story. Surely the animators know that and so do the people who wrote soul eater.

-Kid isn’t a human, he explained that in the episode where he gets the last demon weapon, when he goes into the city and has Liz and Patty stay out, because he doesn’t know if it is a virus that is effecting the people and killing them, but his body won’t be infected because he isn’t a human, just like shinigami isn’t a human.

Since it was never answered in this very long post I will go ahead. Kurona has never throughout the anime been gendered. The voice actor sounds male so that’s the closest I can think of. The use of boku is more because Kurona is a subordinate, and that term is simply a respectful statement. The subs use terms like he and she, but never in the anime are they used. Proper Japanese subbing would say that person, them, and many other non gendered terms. They occasionally try to do that by using the word “it” though that’s not proper English, “it” is not to be used when referring to people. The voice actor leads us to believe Kurona is male. But there are two good reasons for Kurona to be female.
1. Kurona is the child of a witch, in this series all witches are female so it would seem logical to state they have female children.
2. Almost every soul partnership is a combination of both genders (there are a few exceptions). So most likely as Ragnarok is the more masculine portion of Kurona, Kurona would be the female part. Just my thoughts on the situation being that I know Japanese.

This shall be the end for soul eater, however a new series must spawn from this one.

She’s seriously the only reason I bothered to watch this. It ended up good though. I’m a girl and a lot of this series was a little too boyish for me. The best combination they suggested was Maka and Kurona, but the true ultimate couple in this anime is Maka and Tsubaki.

Wow, I can’t believe the series is ending so quickly. I think it should end at 52, not 51… I mean, one 30 minute episode is not enough time to defeat thhe Kishin and then explain what happens to everyone in the aftermath. o_O

Anyways. Soul Eater, YOU RULE. I have to say, I enjoyed EVERY minute of this series. While some people complained about filler, I see none. It’s all fantiastic. Soul Eater has become one of my favourite anime series now, second only to Death Note probably. I loved it so much, I watched like, 33 episodes in 1 and 1/2 days last weekend.

And guys, don’t get sad about this being the last episode… if you liked it THIS much, just rewatch it! That’s what I’ll definatly do in a few months. (Can you say, Soul Eater marathon?! WOO.) And, I’m also anticipating the first manga volume’s release in October of this year, I believe. Once the manga starts rolling, I get to experience it all again but in a different format. CANT WAIT LOL.

Lilith Pride, you bring up good points on Kurona’s (or Crona’s) gender. I personally see Crona as a female, and your points only reinforce my opinion, esp. the witch one. It’s unlikely 0% of Medusa’s powers were inherited by Crona: he/she probably has a least a BIT of witch ability, if not almost full abilities that haven’t been shown. And since it appears all witches are female, Crona must be female. His/her voice actor is female, too, by the way. Even though the voice is boy-ish.

And I love Blair too! For the first few episodes she was the main reason I watched. Of course, once Crona was introduced though, I had an even BETTER reason to watch. Crona’s probably one of my favourite cartoon characters now.

And P.S. Death the Kid + Crona = FOREVER THE BEST PAIRING ON THE FACE OF THE PLANETTTT. D: They are SO cute together.

Ok, so I just read every comment up until this point, and I feel like gouging(sp? oh well) out my eyes…

Crona is most likely a guy, and here are my reasons; Only has Crona be subbed as “she” since the change in subbers(personal taste?). Like you said, only witches have been seen as female, so it stands to reason that if a witch gives birth to a male, no power is passed on, which might explain Medusa’s using him as a tool. Voice actor, appearance (I’ve considered the looks in all situations and expressions and it supports male), Ragnarok bullying him (Can you really see Japanese culture pairing up a little girl and an asshole bully that beats her up and picks on her constantly? I can not….just me?)

I see 4 possible conclusions, only 2 which should even be considered, which have already been done.

1) Eureka SeveN/Death Note (mmm…<3) Ending – The final episode is the final episode. All good things must come to an end.

2) Full Metal Alchemist Ending – Same length as SE+E7+DN, but ended with a cliff hanger, to be cleared up in a full length movie. (My favorite choice of ending)

3) Naruto/One Piece/Bleach/Dragon Ball/etc/etc/etc/omg stop doing this format/etc – Arc, after Arc, after Arc, based either solely on popularity, or sheer size of story (personally bleach and OP are the only to shonen series with any girth behind their overall plot, albeit, the anime teams destroy the integrity with each filler) [Also, as much as I like this show, and would like to see more, there's much less direction for it to go and stay interesting and not over the top, very low probability rate]

& finally

4) More eps, I’d say anywhere from 52-61 should be acceptable, imo.

In Japanese films there are often guys picking on girls. Kurona being female would be normal to the Japanese tradition of the warrior male feeling hindered by a female he needs (think Inuyasha). Stories of samurai and such often are negative towards women, and this series through black star shows that gender is not all important. Or you can think of it the other way, when little boys are interested in girls they pick on them. The two of them have a strong connection (though forced) since Ragnarok is just as childish as kurona it’s normal he would pick on girls.

My favorite seemingly never ending series is galaxy express 999, but the series only had a main story for about 25 episodes, afterwards they just travel the galaxy exploring new worlds. It’s an interesting one because they have imaginative episodes.

It seems that I’m in the minority on the ending to death note, I thought it was a horrible end. They took away from light’s character. It just turned him into your general bad guy in a series. He lost his substance.

After episode 48 the mecha scene seems completely pointless, It would have been more congruent if they kept with it more, but it only appeared for the one episode (or it could’ve been the sub plot and they could’ve followed a fight scene more). Also this series has that odd new tradition of preserving main characters, I’m used to anime where important people end up dead.

I didn’t mention it before but thanks whoever said it for mentioning kashimashi, we’re in the wrong genre discussion board but that series is the best.

There is more evidence that suggests Crona is a boy rather than a girl, the fact that he is not a witch and has no witch based powers (as all of his attacks are based on Ragnaroks powers and the black blood) or even witch chants settles it for me. This argument is dead anyway since it is pretty obvious this isn’t something that is going to be revealed.

No offence but Bleach makes Naruto actually look good, everything about it is so bad or annoying, there are too many fillers, very poor character designs as if some were thought up by children, overly simplified action (sword smashing for 20 minutes isn’t what I call a fight. A good one anyway), prelonged fight scenes (even unimportant fights could last a couple of episodes, inconsistent art quality, and did I mention fillers, not random fillers out of nowhere, but full filler Arcs and WAY too many characters. I could go on for days pointing out the overratedness of Bleach, sure it has story but without other key things supporting it, it ends up being horribly. One Piece, despite it’s poor art is OK, but only in Japanese. Off topic I know but it needed to be said, Bleach ain’t great

Wow this is really amazing. I just started watching this a couple days ago and tonight i decided to watch from 43-51 and i just finished watching 50 and when i click on the final episode its not aired yet lol guess i gotta wait for this one just like everyone else. Aside from that i gotta say everything following the reawakening of the kishin seemed to be really rushed to me. They could have had another good 10-20 episodes stretching everything out without it becoming repetitive but i guess more episodes is something we are not gonna get . Oh well, the ending’s gonna kick some serious ass tho.

that were my exact thoughts on the ending, thats why i like the ending of the movie far better.. it kept the same tone as the rest of the series
i just thought that light would have some last trick up his sleeve and turn everything around, but it never came =S

To be honest guys, I think there should just be a little movie at the end of this, like Full Metal Alchemist, wrapped it up perfectly I thought. A whole new series of this would be brilliant, however you could so easily ruin it. So stick with the movie. It will wrap everything up nice and neatly, viola!

It makes sense Maka was a “weapon” I mean she kind of both. Her father is a Deathe Scythe yah now? Anyways, in less she gets into a situation like she just was with Asura (where she was on the verge of death) she probably won’t be able to use that ability. Who knows, she may never be able to use it again…

Oooh!!! That was so awesome with Asura calling her an idiot, thinking she didn’t do anything with that punch! Ack! I don’t want it to be over!!!! They should totally make an OVA of just randomness!!!! I would love them if they did that…They won’t though…it’s better if they don’t anyways. Second season, get!
Seriously though. It was such a great anime. Probably my favorite of all time.
But I have one problem with the plot, and that is….what happened to storyline being everyone’s trying to become a death scythe? XD

kinda hard to understand while talking to people on messengers hehe. the episode was pretty good, the art was good, and they focused on the central theme of fighting fears. It kept the focus of fighting insanity well, but yeah in the end they just kind of wrapped it up with the credits. I was expecting the ending to rely a bit less on talking though hehe.

this ending really didn’t make any need for the series to not continue, it just finished the point of the current series. I can see a movie appearing in the future. The end of this series was indeed rushed, they left everything that was going on hanging and just focused on the kishin. but for 23 minutes it was as good as it could be.

It was a very shounen ending….

The thought that they make a new season is laughable. An extra episode to extend beyond the ending event maybe, but the anime has deviated far too much from the manga at this point to make a clean continuation.

Even if they did the characters would be fairly one dimensional judging by the job the anime folks did on their own. Too many of the wrong characters are dead or left alive.

I almost watched the raw…almost. I didn’t want to spoil it for myself and only understand bits and pieces.

That was an okay ending, I loved Maka as a weapon. And umm…the screaming was painful to hear….kind of lost its touch towards the end. The first half was awesome, I loved the fighting.

For those who want more, hey, just go read the manga. Its 10x awesomer, right now, Maka just unleashed the Demon Hunter (which is not over used in the Manga, its her second time using it) to defeat Arachne. YES, arachne is still alive. And the Kishin isnt even a bad guy, i mean the last time you see him is Fight To Death. Arachne took his spotlight.

BUt Ill definetly miss this anime. So fucking good, the only decent out there. First DN, Blood, DGM, now this…maaah.

I agree skell, I havent bothered to watch the final episode un-subbed yet, but im anticipating its fsilure.

I find that any anime that gets too popular and too long turns out extremely crappy and lacks a decent story, its better for animes to end in their prime, than live out their days in shame.

Unfortunately, I believe this is the last episode ever… (Yes, this is the second season, Arachnophobia.)

What I HOPE happens, however, is that they merely have ONE MORE SEASON (a third) to round off the edges and answer our questions. Mainly the following:

1. Who’s Kid’s mother, or are Shinigami created in some other way?

2. Is Maka’s mother safe? IE: Let us see her, or have her return to Death City.

3. Who was the 3rd Gorgon Sister? Snakes, Spiders, ________? (Possible witches soul that Soul gets for growing into Death Scythe?)

4. Let Soul Eater star in a show that was named after him and let him become a Death Scythe at least God Dammit….

5. Since Shinigami lived (He WAS standing/floating again after all) Can he somehow unbind his soul from Death City and hand the title down to Death the Kid? (He earned it fighting Asura and assisting in defeating him when Shinigami couldn’t…)

6. What happens to Mifune, and how does he deal with Angela since she IS a witch and would go with him to Shibusen? Do students scorn her? How will he deal with any attempts on her life considering he will be a teacher and obviously can’t kill them… Could Angela possibly turn into a serious threat if students DO scorn her?

7. Since Maka obviously has Weapon capabilities earned from her fathers blood, does she have conscious control over it or is it locked away in her mind? (I ask this because of the blank look in her eyes as she fights and then apparently gains conscious control when Asura pins and crushes some organ or bone inside her (Also note she doesn’t use this capability after she “reawakens”)) How does this effect her relationship with Soul?

There are other questions I could ask, but these are the major points….

And besides… I Love how she finishes the fight… A good ol’ punch in the face…. Works every time. ^_^

And oh yes… Does Marie get married to Stein? Lol

Okay wow, it’s like they took everything you know and burned it… kinda. I liked it, sorta. The whole battle with Asura was lame, she killed him with a “fist of courage”… god what the hell, and plus they all survived >:( (Well except the guy that was supposed to die and did) once again burned. Some parts were predictable, badly predictable. Though im glad some comedy was in there, like when Shinigami said “Im back!” and when Patti sayed motherfucker (If that is what she really said *glares at subbers*)
Overall it was a more of a disappointment, they should have 60% fight and 40% talk in my oppinion.

Really, the only reason I can think of for such a.. strange ending.. is the fact they didn’t have the money to do much else. I’ll tell you what a voice actor told me–the pirating is what’s doing this to the industry.
The anime industry isn’t just the american companies or just the japanese companies; it’s both.

American DVD sales = money for the artists = artists keep working = anime is produced.

No money means no artists, which means no anime..
Hence why the company that did Hellsing is no more.

I’ll be buying the SE DVDs when they come out.

Why was the first episode the best one? I know it’s a hook but that’s really lame, I really liked soul eater bu i think that after ep 24 all the fight scenes were short and boring. Now i’mnot the kind ofperson who just likes animes for fights (i love death note) but this is an action anime devoid of action. The show is called SOUL EATER, yet most of the show wasn’t even about him. it was all madness, and maka and about her random courage! soo why bother calling it Soul eater. Call it MAKA and her random courage punch that effing beats the kishen when everything cool fails.

like kids lines of Sanzu!! that was good, i was almost happy with that. but no. the kishen dies from a punch. they made Soul pretty useless, and that annoyed me. Soul and Maka are partners, therefor they both shoulda been responsible for the kishens DEATH!

I’m kinda surprised that Maka is part weapon, although I had actually thought about it due to Spirit/Death Scytche as her father. I never expected her to be part/a weapon though, or maybe this was put in the last minute (last ep) by Bones/Funimation(?). Does Maka even know that she’s part weapon? She was unconscious..

So, what happens next? Will the group head for Death City(Still in Robot mode~) to reunite with the rest, will Soul be a Death Scytche, will there be another kishin (or a person to spread madness like Ashura), will there be another antagonist, will there be another witch, the third gorgon sister? And not lastly (too many questions lol) will there be… another season?! I hope so! XD

till that ep the movie was greate hope for another final (most likely short) season or at least another ep to fix the fail(close everything and show a happy end nod not just black stars “the sky is blue motherfuckers” and makas brave words) and invent anotherkishin that will leav us something to think about.

Needs to be said, how can some of you guys call people who don’t put Spoilers ‘retards’ when really you shouldn’t even read comments before watching. Come on, what’s retarded is seeing that the episode is out, yet proceeding to read comments.

Also needs to be said, people keep complaining about the ending, but what did you expect in 20 minutes? Everything to be resolved? No. We got exactly what was meant to happen, Maka beats Demon God. I said long ago, 51 is not enough, then some idiot replied like “51 is perfect, blah, blah, blah, we don’t want it to be another Naruto…” BULLSHIT! 51 was never enough episodes, 70 or 80 at least if you look how long running the Manga has been. The mistake that Media Factory made was bringing out the Soul Eater anime far too early. It was about this time last year that it came out. And it was way too soon because the Manga only just reached half way. So when Soul Eater caught up there was a problem. And it still had to be concluded within 51 episodes with no Manga to follow. And because they decided to include a Mecha filler and the 2nd and 3rd Excalibur fillers, they had 3 episodes less to work with. Barely any episodes to tie in plot holes, not enough episodes to conclude properly and no Manga to follow from. They were screwed. They had to take the standard route, less time means less fancy animations.

Another thing, people keep complaining about Maka’s mom, Mifune, Giriko, Justin, and how you would like to see what happens next. Please re-read what I wrote. NEVER ENOUGH EPISODES. This stuff is not important enough to squeeze in 3 episodes. Maka’s mom was never relevant to the story she is just a plot device to help Maka gain courage, Giriko v Justin was over when Giriko found out he had been abandoned, Mifune becoming a teacher is not important to the plot, it is just the effect of the conclusion between his fight with Black Star. Soul Eater has been so good I can’t turn against it now, the first anime I’ve watched while it was still airing in Japan (I’m never doing that again, btw). It’s great, great characters, OK story at times, great humour, great fights, if it had more time it could have gone on to become one of the epic greats of Anime. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. But those who complain please try to understand instead of just trying to pick holes in the story

WTF is up with Maka being like an awesome weapon and meister like Justin but not f-ing knowing that she could be loads more powerful.
So where is the Demon God’s soul? Surely Soul should have eaten the Demon God’s and Arachne’s souls and become like an uber death scythe.
Also, who agrees that the death of the Demon God should have been at the hands of all three of the group? If Black Star was meant to surpass God then surley he could have helped cos’ hes like my fave character.
One final thing (i hope)…
…who else wanted to see Shinigami-sama’s human form? I think he would look awesome.

i think the second season should be all three of the gang becoming death scythes and taking on a Demon God who’s weapon is willingly helping him (not forcefully swallowed and aparantly dieing).

…and i think the movie should be when they are grown up and they should be way more powerfull (like a naruto shippuden style thing) oh, and i think Death the Kid should be the Death God

Seriously? It made sense in its own little messed up way but I cant see why that killed it! I can see why it hurt it. But I would have much preferred her to finish him off with Soul after the Courage speech, and one hit HURT him but didnt make him Self-Destruct!

I was kinda disappointed. I hope they do make a Season 2 now. Because they could keep going with it. That was a good episode to the end of a season – but not an entire Series!!

This episode is shit. The fight with Shinigami was shit too. They only talked and Shinigami was taken down too easily considering he took down the demon god once already. I was vary disappointed. I was expecting a kick ass fight and Maka destroying the demon god, but NOOOOOOO!!!! She fucking punched him in the face with a ‘fist full of courage’ That’s bullshit.

I agree with nobody the last couple of episodes have been really dissapointing, all this bullcrap about courage, i dont understand why why why = i am afraid, really has annoyed me.I mean i think they couldnt think of any good ideas to finish it off, i mean please lol .

This ending is really not enough. It’s kinda disappointing really. SoulEater’s first few episodes are really cool and funny. Them trying to be a Death Scythe and all. But when they changed the story it sucked and the ending sucks.

Maka becoming a weapon is cool and does really makes sense. She’s the daughter of a Death Scythe after all. There has to be something she inherited from her father, right?

I don’t know about you guys but they kind of were foreshadowing for something to happen…Don’t you think? Perhaps a movie, another season? Maybe it was just me…lol

This episode is crap. A great manga ruined by a terrible anime. They should at least have an episode where the credits shows what happened after the fight. Like a year down the road or what. It would certainly appease the audience.

And as what people have already said, the anime deviated too far from the manga, ruining so many perfect plots. At least DGM followed quite close to the manga, albeit a few filler episodes.

Soul Eater isn’t being Soul Eater here, his participation in the last episode is merely just shielding Maka from Kishin’s attack. His involvement in the last episode should be greater, perhaps continuing to play the piano, since he proclaimed that the little demon is part of him.

The Kishin looked damn dumb, and what he said contradicted himself already. Fear leads to betrayal, and he betrayed his weapon. That itself is enough. We all know that he was scared. But he should think before he talk. The production team should think of it before they put in the words. This is precisely why anime in Japan is becoming less appealing.

They wasted around 5~10 minutes of the anime in the talking part. It could have been used for a better purpose. The moment the anime deviated from the manga, I thought nothing could be saved. I was right.

And one last thing in the spoiler section:

I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY doesn’t equate to I AM AFRAID.
This is one of the most ridiculous reason that anyone could possibly give.

To !?^£&%^: If it was so easy to kill the Kishin, wouldn’t Black Star be so god-damn courageous to proclaim that he will surpass God? And the ending is not among the better endings that I have seen. The ending was good, but not great. Not great enough to end an amazing series. There should have been more awesome fighting and all the talking was simply ridiculous. Half the time what they were saying didn’t even seem relevant to the plot. Also, when Asura didn’t “get” it, it just went downhill for me. I mean, we’ve mostly seen him like all calm and powerful, and so on. And when then he’s taken down by a single punch, it seemed like the people were just trying to finish in time for like lunch or something. No explanation of Maka being a weapon, no explanation of past stuff either. Sigh.

black star is way more courageous than maka, i never seen black star get scared in any of the past episode and he steps in the face of danger just as much as maka does and even more, so i dont know how the fuck they came up with this conclusion.

Black star is not as coragous as maka. Black star is ARROGANT because he keeps saying he will suppass god. Maka faces her fears and fights against them. Thats COURAGE. Arrogance and courage are two completely different feelings.

The anime is different from the manga, yes, because they started the anime before the manga finished and as the anime was getting ahead of the manga storyline, it went off onto a different route. Hence why there was 3 Excalibur filler episodes.

Daniel – Think about it. In most episodes 5-10 minutes is spent talking but that explains what is going on. If there was no words and just action it would just get boring and confusing becase no-one would know what is going on.

Just wanted to get that off my chest and I hope some people understand what I’m trying to say.

Obviously everything leading up to the punch was too deep for you to comprehend and thus way…way over your head.

When his weapon was saying DON’T UNDERSTAND = I AM AFRAID, he was telling Asura that what he wasn’t understanding what what Maka was saying. He was talking about fear (Which is true! ) but he himself had betrayed his weapon. Asura was insane (MADDNESS!!!) and his weapon was trying to tell him that he (he being Asura) was afraid and that he didn’t understand it. At least…That’s what I got from it…It’s kind of hard to explain… :/

OK, in terms of story structure, the anime failed the longer it went on. Maybe Naruto is better on story alone, but Naruto has bad pacing, even more so in Shippuden. It would take 30 episodes to get 1 thing done which makes it unwatchable at times. Not that Naruto is awful, but this had the potential to be better than Naruto, no doubt. It had better interest. The characters were likeable from the start, stories and sub-plots were resolved in a mere episode rather than 10. And no fillers. What they needed to do was wait till the Manga finished, THEN start with the Anime. Or at least start when they know the Manga would finish before, just so they had a proper story to follow, not some bulcrap, rewritten filler type shit. It missed a bunch of pivotal stuff from the Manga. I didn’t even get to see Kid and Free fight Mosquito in his Kuroshitsuji form, or Black Star’s proper fight with Mifune. (If that fight was animated the exact way it was drawn in the Manga, it would have probably gone down in history). Soul and Maka had to face Arachne in the Manga but in the Anime it doesn’t even happen. I hope it is re-done following the Manga exactly, because then it would be better than Naruto. Not to be an elitist or anything, but the Manga really has the story straight.

The courage thing is disturbing though. It is a good lesson, but not logical. I could have the courage to punch a Bear in the face but that doesn’t mean I’ll kill it. Most likely I’ll die. The lesson has some truth but courage is not the answer to everything. I think Asura would have been a better enemy if he didn’t speak at all. If he was mute it would have made him much more respectable to be honest. The fact that they tried to make him seem really smart with his crappy one-liners about fear and stuff just got really annoying, I hate those stuck up enemies that love to monologue about how perfect they are. Everyone is taking the courage punch too literally. It wasnt the punch itself that killed the kishin, but it was himself being weakened and afraid of what made Maka keep fighting. Him dying from the punch was basically him imploding on himself because he was so confused. Anyway he said that courage scared him, and that fear most likly drained him of his powers, thus killing him.
but yeah ending should have been excalibur flying into that barrier and just fucking some shit up.

Wait, wait, wait. Didn’t Asura break Maka’s ribs? How did she get up so quick after that. You can see they put in effort on the earlier episodes but on these last ones… Utter crap.

I didn’t like a couple of the episodes leading up to this one, but I thought the ending was excellent. It was cute and funny, much like the beginning of the show.

Remember, this show is based on a number of premises that don’t make any sense whatsoever. And the ending certainly fits in well with that. I really liked liked it, actually.

…more importantly, at least it DID end. Unlike most crappy 200+ episode anime.

That ending was just as bad as I had expected. It got WAY to cheesy. The first mistake was making Maka a bloody weapon, it was pointless, it didn’t even affect Ashura. In the end, she beat him with courage punch? Could it get any cheasier than that? Plus… NOBODY FUCKING DIED! Here is a list of people that I figured should have died, or I already consider dead because they were so fucking injured: Crona, Death, Mifune (who died in the manga), plus some pointless characters that could have been killed: Mosquito, that chainsaw guy (because nothing ever HAPPENED between him and Justin), and Free and Erica could have died or just at least left, they weren’t doing anything but standing around. And also, didn’t Kid have a bloody hole through him? When he got up at the end there he seemed perfectly fine to me, as well as everyone else who seemed half dead.

And if these rumors of another season are true, then all I have to say is, “fuck”. If they make another season, all it means is that they will have to make a NEW big bad guy who will have to be even tougher than Ashura, and that it will have to get even crazier in order for them to beat em. I mean seriously, what will they do, increase Soul’s blade size again (like they’ve done 3 or so times already) He’s already 4 or 5 times bigger than Maka! Oh, but before they can do that Soul will inevitably have to throw himself in front of the bad guys attack to save Maka, CAN’T forget that!

I think that the Kishin died from one punch because of Maka combining her Anti-demon Wavelegth and Courage. This is just my opinion but I think her punch was like Soul Surge but she sent her wavelegth into Ashura as well as Courage. But yeah the ending wasn’t great … but I cant stop watching it. Maka in weapon from was cool and Maka’s voice actress is so amazing that scream sent shivers down my spine when Ashura crushed her arm. I love Soul Eater to the end of time. Can’t wait till they realease on DVD from Funimation. Let’s hope they don’t do sucky voices.

Soul Eater may end. But it will live on in our hearts as long as we remember. Don’t forget the good times.From the first episode to the last. It was all good. The ending was great and kinda tearful. So we shouldn’t look back on the bad times, but keep going on with the good times.

Oh and a punch of courage is the best thing. The power doesn’t come from our fist, but it comes from our heart and soul. So don’t complain that it was just a punch. Say to yourself it was a punch of courage.

Also this was a really good anime. It may be over but it deserves to stop because it was really good. *smiley face*

I thought the ending was decent. They didn’t stray from the overlay of the anime so far. The Make being a weapon and meister, albeit pointless fight wise, was important to the finale. She fought with the same source of power as Kishin, fearless. She was unconscious so she couldn’t hold back. The source of Kishin’s power is being fearless. He has no emotional attachment to anything except to the absence of emotional attachments. The ending showcased that Maka had something that completely negated Kishin’s way of thinking. It made him question, in turn afriad of, something, thus rendering him vulnerable. He wasn’t “afraid” of death or pain, so it couldn’t affect him. Maka made him vulnerable long enough to hurt him. Just as being fearless made him strong, being courageous made Maka strong. (Two similar, and yet different things. Arguable, but this is my line of thought, work with me. lol) After the punch, which I can imagine isn’t too weak considering she’s a meister, Kishin’s identity broke. Courage is something everyone has, just like madness. Positive and negative in every person, but courage beats out madness because in order to be completely fearless in madness, you can’t accept that reality of courage. Bad guy loses.

I like the characters. Love the manga. Anime was pretty good. Yet, I still don’t want to see them fuck this up with another arc.

I’m sorry, but did anybody else find the ending to be extremely pathetic? I mean, it was extremely suspenseful all the way to the point where Ashura goes “You have nothing left now” but after when Moka just grabs his wrist and Ashura chickens out… Ashura had everything, it was good, it was basically checkmate for Moka, so I expected something brilliant… I was extremely disappointed afterwards. Moka’s “courage” courses through her “phalangies of doom” and FALCOOOOON… PUNCHES Ashura IN THE FACE and Ashura EXPLODES in a violent death which makes the sky blue and the world all shiny. Afterwards, Moka makes a statement that we all have courage right here, in our left tit. Yes, our left tit. I loved Soul Eater, I’ll probably watch the OVAs/Second Season if it comes out, but that was an EXTREMELY POOR ending, in my honest opinion.

I agree with you Alex on the falcon punch … (if she was trying to abort kishin’s child she did it wrong). I mean how MANY FREAKING TIMES in anime did they use the excuse “I may be weak but my powerful heart defeats evil anywaysss YAARRHHH”. If you’re over 13 or mentally more able than a 13 year old child then it will definitely feel like deja vu and naive. I feel anally raped having watched this whole goddam anime for THIS. I probably won’t tell anyone I watched this series … EV4R! The memories of this cheesy-ass-gay ending will haunt me in my worst nightmares until they destroy my sanity and I murder someone for liking this. Occasionally some good material comes out of these crazy-ass japanese writers but honestly most of it is the same crap, and its epitome here has been condensed in 23 minutes of intense gayness and fail. Not to be a party pooper here, but I don’t get why a punch of “courage” made Asura shatter. Did I miss something that said Asura is a manifestation of insanity itself or something? I don’t see any other reason a punch filled with “courage” would kill him.

Because I don’t like it when people go with kid’s logic and say”it works cuz I sed so lolz.”, I need a clear explanation. Right now, I think the developers became lazy, decided they didn’t know how to fill the power gap established between Asura and Maka, and came up with magical courage punch of instant death.

Why did Maka turn into a scythe anyway? I know she is half Deathscythe but what triggered her to change. And why was she unconscious while fighting for the brief moment? What was the point of Evans transforming into a super scythe if in the end it had no effect?

In the beginning i thought the point was to make soul into a death sythe with the 99 souls and 1 witch soul, but that kinda got thrown out of the storyline and now maka is a weapon.

So many plot holes!! I was so excited for this anime but it’s all build up and lame resolve!

Also, THE SHOW IS CALLED SOUL EATER. It often went 2 or 3 episodes in a row with hardly any mention of Soul or Maka. I was really hoping to find out more about them.

The Kishin fucking obliterated SHINIGAMI and his massive soullength, and Kid after his grand finale with the lines becoming circles and giant guns whatever, AND Black Star and his super long Fey Blade…

First things first, I really hated the ending. I mean the anime was great, I loved it! But then comes the ending and BOOM! the kishin dies ’cause of a punch full of courage. I mean, it would be epic if Death the Kid, Black Star, and Maka joined up and released an ultimate attack full of courage, but seriously, a punch? Couldn’t they make it more flashier?

Like full metal alchemist this anime was only 51 episodes long. And the new series of FMA was released april 5th 2009. So, its kinda obvious that they will make another season that will probably be amazing much like this season lol.

He was defeated by maka’s courage because she was the first one who showed absolutely no fear and he had never seen that before. The kishin said himself that fear leads to defeat. When he saw the fearless maka he began to be consumed by fear.

For the people who were all disoriented as to why maka turned into a weapon. She turned into a weapon because she has weapons blood inside her (Souls blood)and if that is not a good enough answer then it may be because her father is a weapon and her mother is a meister over all its just opinion. As to why it happened there and then u would have to state in your own opinion. In my opinion as to why it happened there and then and why it happened when she was unconscious is because her body reacted to survive and protect her, and it happened well she was unconscious because she cant do it conscious as a result of fear, so when she got knocked out by the blast it released, *note when she gains consciousness it goes away.

So try and remember that all these answers cant be truly answered until a new series is released that further explains them.

Ye if a lot of stuff happened it would have been cool. But i think that’s what the creators wanted, was for us to want more of the show instead of revealing every little detail. That is what makes a good anime. In the end you will probably appreciate it a lot more then if it were to come at you all at once. I am sure when they make the next season it will reveal more secrets. We are just going to have to wait and see .

I was just dissapointed by how the fight went. What happened to the black star vs. Mifune style fights, or the first bouts with Crona? I think the anime was at its darkest point when Asura was biting faces and then suddenly he turned into (IMO) a yugioh villain. Its not so much HOW he was defeated that bothered me but more the fact that he lost that “Evil bad-ass” vibe he went 98% through the saga with.

the show soul eater was pretty good, but the ending is most pointless and the worest peice of shit i ever seen. it is so random. and stupid

It’s going to take at least 2 years since the episodes are catching up with the manga (there is no way they’ll stop maling Soul Eater episodes they manga is in like top 10).But as I said before we’ll have to wait a lot of time until the episodes come.

Parts I love:

1) Asura totally lost it, he was like “HUNUH???? WTF?????SHE’S OVER 9000?????”

2) The pucnch, it’s like “OH! YOU JUST GOT YOUR HOLLOW ASS OWNED N00B!!! YEAH I PLAY ON XBOX BITCH!!! (Yeah, I call them hollows lol)”

I’m guessing there will be another season, they made a lot off the show so I doubt they’ll stop now and there is a lot left to be explained (Maka is a weapon? Like WTF? This show can actually be unpredictable, usually I can tell what will probably happen but that was like “Oh yeah, btw I’m a weapon, scotty-doo!”O.O…

Dang, now Justin is a bad guy. He kills BJ and takes chainsaw guy under his wing. Also in the manga Black Star kills Mifune so likely, yeah last ep. LEARN TO READ!

i realy hope there is a second series, i mean, it doesn’t have to come out now or anthing, i just realy love the anime. it one of the best i have seen in the long time, and i dont want it just to see more kid X33 lol.

but yer, the ending, despite its chessyness was good anyways XDD.
and i know how everyone is all like ‘yay! we can have a seccond series cuz the manga is still going!’ and then there are the people arguing back, well, id just like to say, that, you know the (AWSOME) anime hayate no gotoku? well, that was, like, this length, and everyone was all like, this too! however, a second season came out recently, and basically, they sorta went back in time (if this makes sence) they basically cut off the last, what, 20 episodes of the anime, for the series, and then they sorta, patched up all the plot holes, and is now following the manga. i know, i cant word stuff right, but yer. and there could easily be something to do for a second series. i realy want to read the manga, but my internet is slow and crappy so i cant read it online! T^T and i cant buy them in the stores here over in england. anyways… i think there is a chance of another series, cuz its SOO BIG ALL ACROSS THE WORLD. theyre dubbing it (PLEASE – NO!) but that basically means its worth dubbing. and so. i rest my case.

bad ending…wth? asura was supose to be…i dont know. his whole attitude changed for no reason during the fight with maka. when he was fighting shinigami and even earlier in the anime..he had this “demon god” image and what not.

now all of a sudden, just because she had “COURAGE” he became a little bitch and freaked out. wth. that ruined everything. and the fact that she beat him with a punch, even though death cannon couldnt do anything.

AND SHES SUPOSE TO BE A ONE STAR!

“Courage”

heh something that could defeat a sadistic villain. Not a bad way to defeat a person, after all what Asura lacked was a simple element which was a human heart.

Nice ending! Though I personally wished there were more episodes, and another villain arc.

The ending made sense.

Asura, did not and could not understand the one thing he lacked which was COURAGE.

And thus, he was defeated by one mere human punch. Because he began to get nervous.

My personal belief, is that Maka used her normal “soul wave” which is pure courage/human spirit to knock down him. Thats why he was glowing blue and shiz. XD

Personally one of the best animes iv’e `seen in a long time. I just wish the ending could have been just a little better. Well its been fun guys but now i gotta go back to the grind.

Anyway, this was one of the best I’ve seen in a whiillllee.
Unfortunately though, I found this last episode kind of iffy. I loved the fact that Maka is part weapon, and that Asura completely lost his sensibility. “Courage.” I expected that, seeing as it’s part of the title. But it was said over and over and over again and gah – I got sick of it.

Also, I would’ve liked more Soul action. His name is the title of the freakin anime, shouldn’t he get some more screen time, some more credit?

Many questions left unanswered, but that’s the beauty of it.

Maybe another season? =D

Wow!O.O I was surprised that Maka was a tech and a weapon, and I really loved the ending.^^ I thought it was perfect really~ I don’t get why some people are confused….there really is nothing to be confused about…~.~…?

Whoa, that was a perfect ending, I don’t understand why you guys want it to continue, I mean, then there will be no point in it, right? Maybe a few OVA’s, but not continued. It will just end up stretched and boring with nonsense. It is better like this, besides, you can watch it again and there is always the manga!

Well, at first I think the ending is too sudden and ridiculous. At first. Asura is dead just like that. Soon I was like “Hey, this is Soul Eater! ANYthing can happen. It’s not even real, the setting is not reality. It’s not like those heavy, dark-themed, mind challenging, damn serious but hella awesome anime like Death Note.” So I concluded that my mind doesn’t fully synchronize with ‘Soul Eater’ and I’m better off watching some serious-themes anime rather than something in the fighting/adventure genre with lots and lots of cliches. I’ll stop.

I assume those who doesn’t like the ending also have the same perceptions as mine, and obviously we don’t like that kind of cliches. I’m 16, I watch anime since I was 9 and this kind of cliche (courage and stuff) gets really old in time. But back to the main point, the anime I just watched is “SOUL EATER”, so this kind of ending suits the series pretty much. No offense but just typical, I’m cool with that. And I fully accept the fact that the bad guys must lose, not the good ones because that is in fact, a part of reality, but what matters that how it is represented. Is it simply like those superhero cartoons or something else?

Nonetheless, one of the things that got me into Soul Eater is because of their unique characters with distinguishable personalities (and looks), amazing animation and not to mention those very nice soundtracks. So got to give props for that. And from the beginning of the anime, it’s stated that Maka is powerful since she “fights fear with courage” or something like that. Foreshadowing, anyone?

But then they still have the manga so I truly hope there will be something even better than this one. Must expect the good guys to win though, since they are specifically made to overcome evil and create world peace with gay rainbows, bright sparkles and very, very happy faces. Lol. JK. And I hope anime version of Asura rests in peace since he (finally) understands the theory of “courage”. Nah, screw the world, Asura is still #1 in my list. Hahahaha.

Well, i’ll admit the ending was kinda corny, but still, Soul Eater’s been a really awesome anime ^^ I’m glad i started watching it, thanks for posting the episodes!

Well.

That was sort of disappointing. It was too feel good.
Although I do like the theory of the combination of her wavelength AND the courage.

Does it make sense that Maka is such an awesome weapon (I mean, DID YOU SEE IT?!?!!) (SHE WAS LIKE…A MEGA SCYTHE.) because her dad was a death scythe when she was…conceived? So that automatically makes her a kick ass weapon?

Otherwise, how is it that she got to be such an amazing weapon, especially considering she’s only half weapon?

It was great the first half of the ep, but then after everyone started talking about her courage, it became cliche.

Two things, though, that I loved:

1. Her blood-curdling scream. GO CHIAKI OMIGAWA!!!! It was intense. It was gut-wrenching. It gave me goosebumps. It was just….so…..AMAZINGLY BELIEVABLY INTENSE.

2. When Asura started to be afraid, and then the words started flashing on the screen. I loved it, especially since he didn’t recognize it as fear at first.

I am totally for a second season.

I NEED TO SEE SOUL BECOME A DEATH SCYTHE.

Anywho, kinda dissapointed, I know, I know, that’s all we hear but eh. Don’t get me wrong this series is amazing, it’s on my top.<3 I just wish they had ended it better.

I do understand that Ashura lacked courage thus getting defeated, but I surely do wish they hadn’t showed that with a single ‘FALCON PAWNCH.’ Maybe an attach with Soul would have been more epic?

And then there’s that. Isn’t the main character supposed to be Soul? Hence the anime title ‘Soul Eater’ (And Maka too of course.) however once Soul was retreived from the Black Blood, all he did was block and attack for Maka then bam-he’s out. Really? I would’ve loved if he was involved more with the final fight. That’s just me being a huge Soul fan though. D:

And then again there’s the courage thing. It was a good lesson I’ll admit, but didn’t Kid and Black Star have courage too? I mean they said that they’ll ‘defeat Asura.’ Plus fighting Asura knowing his size and power gap, I’d say that does take a lot of courage there. If that was me I’d be running for the hills. Lawl.

Then there’s two things I’m still confused about. One-with the battle between Shinigami-sama and Asura, when Asura tried to attack kid and Shinigami block, could Shinigami had not used that shield like thing he used before? Or was it too late? Please someone tell me. ._. And now for Maka being revealed as a weapon. I honestly thought that was pointless, but that’s my opinion. D: But still, how did the blades just suddenly come out? Like what made them come out? D:

Nonetheless, great serious. I hope they make a new one that’s lot closer to the manga like they’re doing for FMA. That’d be GREAT<3

This was nice! This anime is one of the few that i watched carefully and completely (like Claymore, Blood+ and Vampire Knight) because others are usually neverending and turning around and it’s boring (like Naruto (don’t hate me, it’s my way of thinking!))
Since Soul Eater is finished… i tought about Rozen Maiden… anyone can help me finding a new one ?

Try Full Metal Alchemist. Or read the Manga, the manga is completely different than FMA… But it is still good ;D

Beautiful! Such a great anime. I loved. Asura was kind of funny at the end. And what a lame way to die. Still great anime. I hope it’s dubbed, don’t know why, just wanna see how it’ll be. Even the the show was called “Soul Eater”, I think the show was more about Maka. But it did share the spot light with everyone evenly. One of the best animes! Definitely top 3 in anime! Off to the manga now.

this anime was the absolute BEST one ever. (in my opinion) but im not much of an anime freak so i wouldnt know The action was spectacular and the animation was fantastic (although I admit they got lazy near the end. This episode COULD have more action…
Each character was extremely unique and their spasms were different as well. as you know every anime has spasmic characters except more serious ones.

Well. I also finished the manga. Waiting for the new chapter to come out. It was WAY diff. from the anime. The Kishin is still at large, Archne was killed by Demon Hunter, Medusa took Arachne’s body, Crona ran away from Shibusen, Justin Law, one of the Death Scythes is in a group with a man named Noah, Noah has the Book Eibon, Kid is trapped in the Book of Eibon, Kim is a witch, those two girls at the “strip club” Spirit goes to are witches, and Soul get’s all 99 Kishin eggs and is about to eat Arachne’s(wich they saved for later on) and is going to be Shibusen’s newest Death Scythe. So much is still going on!!!

WHY IS IT THAT:

-Shinigami, who is the death god and MAJOR superior to Asura, was unable to defeat Asura? And if they were counting on Maka’s anit-demon wavelength, and Shinigami can ALSO do teh demon hunter, why was he unable to do it??

-Black Star was unable to scratch him?

-Death the Kid’s amazing intense 0% noise cannon attack was wasted?

-Maka seemed to do a completely new move, demon GOD hunter, seemingly created for a kishin, but was unable to harm him at all?

-They couldn’t have stretched out the fight between Asura and Maka when she got her courage? She could have thrown a few more punches, kicks, etc. and killed him slowly, ENDING with a huge punch.

-All the super injured kids just stood up at the end and marveled at the sky?

-Asura didn’t just kill them all? It’s not he wasn’t able to. He injured Shinigami to almost deadly proportions. THESE ARE KIDS.
And besides, he killed Arachne, a powerful witch, with one hug/squeeze.
I mean, honestly??

-SOUL NEVER BECAME A DEATH SCYTHE?!?!! O_O

-THERE CAN’T BE ANOTHER SEASON OR A MOVIE OR A BETTER ENDING?!?!?!?! T_T

The best anime tend to be 2 seasons long I think… so 51 eps is just about right.

If it continues (which the manga does!) then it gets a bit long… at least it will not contain fillers!

BAKA!!! I understand the whole ‘courage’ thing they tried to throw in there but….why only give her 10secs of kick ass super power and then take it away?? Loved this series! Finished it in a month (didnt want to rush it) and loved every minute of it. Even the fillers wern’t that bad. This is the best anime ever, and now its time to go back to watching other good(But so dont compare to this series) animes.
Since the magna went on, I hope they do a second series. Excalibur had no purpose at all in the end, and I would have been fine without him ever getting his one meister in that filler. Go soul eater!!!!

Last scene sucked. It’s official.

I really hate it when developers can’t think of a clever, logical way to win the final battle.

Although, technically speaking, this argument put forward was quite good.

Asura is insanity, or at least, he represents it. Either way, his whole power is based on insanity that exists inside everyone.

The basis for insanity is to feel no fear.

The basis for courage is to feel no fear.

Therefore, you have two opposing forces of equal power.

Maka, however, needs to create a more powerful force than insanity to defeat it, and not just cancel it out, so she reduces the power of Asura’s insanity by putting forward that if courage is the same as insanity but is positive rather than negative, then it must be inside Asura too.

He doesn’t understand this, and to not understand means to fear, so his insane power is reduced in power, whereas Maka’s stays the same, so she wins.

*sigh* Yeah, I don’t think I have a life either. xD

Just from the record Asura kind killed him self with aid from Maka’s punch of coarse. To explain it you have to listen to every thing that Asura say in the last 4 episodes or so he said that everything is based on fear i.e. failure, defeat, anger, confusion and so on BUT when Maka started to talk about courage Asura didn’t understand [confusion] which is a form of fear which lead to defeat [also a form of fear or so he says] since Asura is a coward a little fear sent him off the edge and well ya kno the rest.
